Maxima Crash in Connecticut
Ok i was watching the news and I'd like to know if anyone from connecticut saw the 5.5 gen crashed into the resturant? He fell asleep at the wheel....my reason for this thread is that this has happend before amongst most maxima drivers...mainly 5th gens and up...I know people who have fell asleep at the wheel in their 5th gen, and last year on new yrs day (2006) i posted a thread because i fell asleep at the wheel and rolled mine also...The ride is so smooth by they way...I've had friends or family tell me how comfortable the ride is, and some would instantly fall asleep...Is there anybody else in here fessing up of falling asleep in their max, even if u havent wrecked it?
5.5th gens with stock suspension, does ride very smooth. I believe the video you are talking about was involving an old lady and the lac of her medication.
I'm pretty sure the 5.5th gen isnt that comfortable that with a full night sleep, you're still falling asleep in the car. If someone had little sleep and was driving, then yea, the 5.5th will make them comfortable and. . .

Dozed off my '99 once, the grooves on the side of the highway woke me up, scared me pretty good. Pulled over at a rest stop a half mile down the road, and took a nap. Only time that's ever happened. Won't drive tired no more.
I'm 6th genner, but I have family that can attest to the comfortable seating of the max.
My twin sister said that the back seat of the max lulled her to sleep. (Probably as big as the backseat is in my car, she probably felt like she was in a lazy boy).
It reminded her of the serta commercial. The one where there were cars piled up in the intersection and all the drivers asleep. Serta spokesman says "good thing we only make mattresses, huh?"

Funny you post this. I was driving home last night (going north) from San Francisco. As soon as I cross the GG Bridge and descend the Waldo grade I set the car to cruise @ 70. I never fall asleep but after so many minutes of driving I feel my car riding on the bumps that divides each lane and "wake up". I realize I'm 15 minutes from my house and do not remember the last 25 minutes of my drive.
Total drive from SF to my house is about 40 minutes. I only remember the last 15. WTF? Thats not the first time I've done that either. I've done the same thing when I had an Altima. My point? It's not necessarily the car but I think it did play at least a minor role in my snooze. I should say that my eyes were open the whole time and I saw each car I passed or that passed me, but I definitely wasn't fully coherent.

wow its so many of you non sleepers in here lol well b4 i rolled mine i had stock suspension...and yes when i did the drop it was still comfy with the Tokico settings to its softest...even with the car full also. people in the back seat fall asleep from a 15 minute ride
don't have the problem in my car
I've taken 20+ hour drives and haven't dozed off yet. Stock suspension or not. Haven't heard any friends complaining about being tired either, but I usually have friends in the car in the city and I'm not so light on the throttle
