I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE NISSAN STOCK ALARM ONLY COVERS THE FRONT TWO DOORS!!!!!!!!!! What kind of sh#@ is that. To think of all the times I leave valuable stuff in my car overnight because my car is parked right outside.

WHY EVEN HAVE AN ALARM?? IF IT ONLY COVERS 2 DOORS.

HAS ANYONE ELSE HEARD ABOUT THIS??

DO ALL STOCK ALARMS DO THIS??

trunk solution

You can disengage the trunk release button so a thief that breaks into your car can't get into the trunk by using the button. Just open the trunk and there is a switch next to the bottom latch.

Looks like I'll be getting an aftermarket alarm after all. I also have an AutoLock so if a theif broke in...they can take everything (stereo, etc.), but they can't steal the car. All this time...I thought I had a decent alarm.

Follow up:

I looked in the 5th gen service manual and in 5th gens the alarm is triggered by:

Opening a door (any door)
Opening the hood or the trunk lid
Detection of battery disconnect and connect

so it looks like the 5th gen has a normal alarm ....

Where did you read or hear that from?? The stock alarm covers all four doors, the trunk, and the hood. You shouldn't be leaving valuables in your car anyways.

In the owner manual of 4th gen, "the alarm is activated by:
1. Opening the door not door(s) Why? or trunk lid w/o using the key or opening the trunk lid by operating the operner release button.
2. Opening the hood.
3. Pushing in or pulling out of the key cylinder on the door Again not doors or trunk lid."

Does this means only 2 doors ? I gotta go and test this out.
