I am afraid I might have bent a rim on my 97 SE. But anyway, how can I tell if I bent a rim? The tires are 225 50 16 in the front. The tire is not leaking air. I just get this odd rhythmic vibration while going down the road, even at lower speeds. I'm pretty sure its one of the front tires, cause thats wehre all the weight of the car sits (and my rear tires are still 215 55 16s). Also, anybody know of a wheel repair place near the baltimore area?

rim repair

I know this is a little out there, but my old boss had a vw corado that his drunk friend hit a curb with and he got all his rims fixed somewhere in northern va or southern maryland. If you get this desperate, call trugreen chemlawn in lorton va and ask for bronson ferrel, best time to call is from 10 am to 7 pm. tell him that justin loyd told you to call. Sounds kinda weird, but he'll know a place.

hey

First off ..
go and get the tires balances.. like neel said
its $7 a tire and that usually what causes it an ounce or two will make your steering shake..

then if it's still the same check the rims for bends..

Ooop, forgot to mention, that I did get the tires rebalanced, all 4 of them... one of them was really off, but it still has this slight shaking. I'm guessing its a bent rim... I've heard even a slight bend on a rim can be magnified greatly.

The tire might be out of round

thats what I got when I got my car back from getting a front fender form a slight car accident. When I got it back, I did notice some wheel vibration even at slow speeds and at high speeds it was almost ridiculous. It turned out that my tire was out of round, prolly from sitting at the shop in one place for so long. Id say check your tires tread and on the inner part to see if the steel belts are coming loose or poking out. If you got your tires balanced and you dont hear a hiss and the air is fine, then it most likely comes to this.
