engine temp vs. oil temp

What is engine temp, is it the temp of the block, oil , coolant, what?

Coolant temp is the most often used indicator, as it has the highest thermal transfer rate, and gives fairly accurate temperature readings of the cylinder chamber. Oil temp is monitored on some vehicles, but usually on trucks (the Chevy Silverado comes to mind).

I'm pretty sure its coolant temperature on all Maximas...but I'd have to look it up to be 100% sure.

yeah, i should have mentioned that... its the coolant temp im 99% sure
