Which Maxima generation do you guys feel is the best? Look wise, and combinations of everything.

well i'm sure everybody is going to be biased to the gen. of the car that they own, just like I am, so i'm gonna say 4th gen. While 3rd gen has us beat in handling, we make up for it w/more power, as far as looks, i think 4th gens still retain a nice modern look w/out the ugly rear of the 5th gens.

4th gen = granny looking car, 3rd gen by car is the best looking. 5th gen has the best interior, and front end....

i'd say 4th Gen ofcourse i own one... 3rd Gen handling is plain awesome... the 4th gen feels so sloppy stock...
5th gen... me personally i hate the looks... and even though it has the extra hp the 4th gens are about as fast... the'02 260hp max will be the best i think...
haha and i like the styling on the 4th gen... the 3rd Gen is hella clean though...

Yeah I agree, I still love the way my 89 Max looks as the day it was first introduced, to me it's almost timeless, as you'd say "clean". I also like the 4th generation, however, I find the 5th generation to have the best looking interior of all. But overall, I'd say 3rd over 4th gen by a very slight margin.

The funny part is, someone actually had a similar discussion regarding the Maxima design on a non Maxima forum, and one user posted sarcastically that Maxima's design went down, the day Nissan decided not to put the "4DSC" decal on their windows.

4th Generation...until the "Next" Generation

Not biased at all. For power, looks, and value...4th Generation all the way. Note: I am not saying that the 4th Generation is the most powerful, but it is the best value for power.

yea the 3rd Gen has timeless styling... it will always look good... the 4th gen has its flaws and the 5th defintely has its design and proportion flaws... haha you know another car that has great styling? the 93 Sentras... the proportionas on that thing are almost perfect.. haha

3rd gen ofcourse..

How could you even ask that question, what the hell is wrong with you?!

3rd gen is styled beautifully, It was the best looking midsize affordable sedan in it's years in my opinion, along with the Acura Legend. But the 3rd gen is the best looking Max, with the 97-99 SE at 2nd, 5th gen at 3rd and 2nd, then 1st......

Hey, I have a '93 Sentra too. 185,000 miles + and still going. Luckily, I don't have to drive it anymore. Although it was a major upgrade from my old Ford Escort whose brakes liked to lock up when I would barely touch them, which is not that much fun on 405.

Hands down

the third gens are still lookin' good when I see 'em today! no 4x4 monster truck wheel gap or bubble ***-end like the 4th gens or tailights that take time to "get used to" like the 5th gen. but I must admit the 5th gen can look really good with body effects like Kev's 5th gen and the '01 AE is starting to grow on me too with the slight added ground effects, but I hate the rear end, to me its plain uninspired. but overall I got love for all Maxima body styles, can't wait to see the final design of the next gen(2003?).....

3rd gen looks the best all around, I like the 97+ SE front end though.

I agree the '92 SE was the best looking, but I prefer the '95-'96 front end over anything that has come from Nissan since.

i really think the spoiler makes all the difference. a 3rd gen w/out the stock wing on the back looks boring, almost grandma-ish, but the same car with the wing gives it its 4DSC look. its the same deal with the other gens, but i think its most drastic on the 3rd gens. so my biased opinion is that a 3rd gen with a spoiler looks best.

my 2 cents..

I like the 4th gen front, but my favorite is probably the 5th gen, The interior is awesome, and I love the rounder body style... just not a fan of the front.

Definitely a great thing...~post post post post post~

Just saw another 5th generation Max, the more I see them the more the sytling is growing on me, the interior is definitely great, my friend has one and the ride feels great. I don't think the rear is that bad in an SE form with those smokish/black surroundings on the taillights. What do you guys think I just got a quote of $22,000 for an SE with the 17" alloys and sunroof...is that a good deal or not really? I'd love to have another Max next to the one I already have. I say Maximas, are like a potato chips, you just can't have one.

LOMA I didn't even notice that we get status evaluation here until recently, it's really cool, from day to day, my status goes back and forth between a lurker and newbie. I really enjoy being in different forums from here, vwvortex, and miata.net.

definately the 3rd generation, you put a few cosmetic mods on a third generation to update its look a little and the other maximas cant compete with its looks

Is it only us Maxima enthusiasts who thinks the 89-94 / 3rd generation Maximas are the best design/best Maxima generation? Evidently non Maxima enthusiast thinks the 3rd generation is by far outdated looking, horrible plain interior looking, and boring and not to mention not even comparable with the looks of the 5th and 4th generation. They all laughed their off when I said the 3rd gen is the best or among the best generation Maximas...(sigh) they just don't understand ...like that Infiniti motto once said, "own one and you'll understand" I guess they have to own one to get attach or to understand.

I have never loved any of my car (except for the Miata) as much as I love my Maxima..something about the bonding of the car and driver..I had a 1999 Passat 1.8 Turbo and a 2001.5 Audi A4 1.8T and now they are all gone...but yet I still have our 89 Maxima still faithfully getting us to our destination without failing on us...

i also think that if you throw a body kit on the 4th gen the back looks really nice, heres the link to the one i was looking at.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3852905

i also like how the front and back sit even instead of the back being higher.

not too bad, aside from the homo-erotic hood scoop.

reason #1 I like the 3rd gen.

but you still totally suck.

haha since this was from 8 years ago, I will be the first to say in 2010 that I think the 07 Maxima's look the best.

I don't know why but the outside styling and the inside interior along with the neat little features like keyless entry and such are almost magical to me. Its kind of like the 4th gen size except bulkier without being too bulky.
