I just got a 409 stainless steel y-pipe from Warpspeed (with the old flex section) and I am planning on wrapping the whole thing in header wrap. I figure that it will keep the engine and engine bay cooler and kill the bees.

I'm going to start on one of the down pipes, wrap to the flex, then double back on the flex to the end of the other down pipe. Is it overkill to double up on the flex?

I've been told that it will trap moisture and that it will heat stress the y-pipe.

Has anyone had a y-pipe (or header) fail due to header wrap? How long did it last before it failed?

I double wraped my Y-Pipe and had no problems with it. I at first only wrapped in once and figured why not double up! The pipe got about 60% quiter after the first wraping and then it got another 20% quiter after I put another layer of wraping on.

I got it from www.Jegs.com; I bought a roll of 2" x 50' for $35.

Is there anything else you need to get to install header wrap? I am thinking about getting some for my cattman pipe. I have a slight noise that is coming from the flex joint. It's not very noticeable, but I guess I am just being **** about it. I would only need to wrap the flex joint right? Thanks!

I just did the wrap a few hours ago. I used stainless steel hose clamps on the ends of the wrap. The wrap manufacturer recommended a spray sealer after the install, but I didn't order it. I may try and find some before I install the y-pipe.

I will probably do the same and wrap mine before I install it...I work at an auto parts store and will see how much it is for us to get it there...20% discount works for me...he he. I am stoked about getting this on and hope to have it before this weeks drags in Carlsbad.

Good luck WizzaMax! I would use hose clamps. The metal zip ties mine came with worked for about a week. Save yourself the hassle and just use the clamps.

Keith, you bought the header wrap? WSP sent me some header wraps free after I told them to send me some because of the bees in can syndrome. I got to admit though, they didn't send me enough. Good thing Matt had extra header wraps. He helped me double wrap the flex section. No more bees at all.
