How much to paint my Maxima??

Im look into painting my Maxima. There are a few blemishes and a body kit that need to be painted. So I figured, why not paint the whole car.

Can someone give me an estimate on how much it should cost.

Too many variables. How much prep? How much body work? What color paint(s)? How many coats? Clear coat? Color sand?

it also depends on what kind of finish you want. if you want your max to look as good as it does now, look to spend $2K+. if you just want it all to match and look decent, about $1200. like jonmandude said,

Take your car to an auto body shop and have them estimate what it will cost you? Should take about 15 minutes of your time for them to ask you want done and they will work out the quote while you are standing there.

Or you can go to MAACO and they'll paint the whole car for $349 which is their premium package.

Your car must be marked up for an '05. Could you consider something alternative such as polishing and touchless dent repair and just paint your body kit? Such a shame to repaint and then encounter stone chipping as the repaint will not be as durable as the OEM unless you pay big $$$$$$$$$.

Don't use MAACO. They're horrible.

I've heard quite a lot of this.

Not questioning it, just wondering:

While I hear hundreds of people say this, I've never once heard... why?

I mean... my front bumper looks like complete crap it's so chipped up... I can't really imagine how it would look any worse. As long as they could match the paint, why not get the bumper painted cheap? Obviously the OEM paint couldn't even save it from getting chipped up, it will obviously get chipped up again no matter what I do, why pay $$$ to get something painted when you can get it done cheap??

I'm not advocating for Maaco here, I'm just really curious how it could be SO bad as to deserve the reputation it has. Usually I hear "you get what you pay for". Someone says "Maaco" and everyone picks up a stone to throw...

Maaco is actually not that bad for simple spray jobs. Since that is all they do, they are pretty decent at it. When it is done it will look pretty good....until it starts to flake off. You almost have do all of the prep yourself. All they do is scuff it with scotch brite pads and shoot....over everything, chrome, emblems, etc.

Just to give you an idea of paint costs. A quality paint, on just the bumper alone, should cost in the area of $400. Anything less is cheap. More is possible but you have to ask what they are charging you for. Remember, like with everything else, you get what you pay for.

thanks for your input guys..... Ive been thinking about painting only half of the car. A 3 tone would look nice and different. I plan on getting:

6th gen front RLM bumper
Stillen side skirts and rear bumper
Active tunning mesh grill (black)
Magnaflow dual exhaust with YPipe.

I did some fast photoshopping.... this is where i plan to be by the end of the year...
