Not sure what to do....

To put it simply, when i bought my maxima i got screwed, royally. The car is great, dont get me wrong, but they tricked me on financing and such. I owe 5900.00 on her still, it just ticked 150k, and shes been acting up lately when its cold. I dont have the credit to replace it, or the cash to pay it off. Hell i barely have cash to drive it. Just phishing for advice.......lol

150k is not that much mileage,as long as you take care of the car via preventative maintinance, you should another 150k out of it...

flush and fill the tranny fluid if its auto, if manual i dont know

Solutions to the finance problem:
1) pay someone to steal it (if u have the proper insurance that covers that) when they pay u out they may pay more than the car is worth (not always) so that money u can use to buy a loan free car and / or pay off the existing loan

2) get it totalled, again if insurance covers it u get money

3) leave the country and change ur name

See if you can get an extended warranty. There are policies for higher mileage cars that only cover basic powertrain. It'll at least keep your car running and give you peace of mind.

I've never seen an extended warranty that goes past 100k miles

and if a 100k mile warranty costs a thousand, what would a 200k cost? probably not something the OP can spend, just my thoughts...

The manufacturer's warranty won't go that far, but they are 3rd party extended warranties out there from good companies. WarrantyDirect was the first one that popped into my head. I did a quick quote and you can get coverage up to 250,000mi for $1200-1400. That may sound like a lot, but it gives you peace of mind against major repairs and you can pay in installments. I wish my gf had consulted me before taking her car in for a leaky radiator and slipping transmission. An extended warranty would have easily paid for itself.

150k isn't too much. The engine should be fine. If your transmission is "*******" then go easy on it. Don't be racing and launching you car since this is only going to shorten the life of your auto tranny.

Also instead of buying suspension and rims in the spring, take that money and make a payment on the car. If you are really hurting for cash, then get a part time job on weekends in a restaurant or something and use that money to pay the car off.

Sounds like you're contemplating trading it in. Are you upside-down on your loan? If so, how much?

By ******* do you mean its slow to accelerate, or do you mean when you step on the gas the car revs drop then come back up, could be your maf. what year is your car? nIf its the latter problem i suggested, then its the same problem I had which ended up being the MAF

Check your trans fluid!

My 3rd gen auto trans with 167,000 was making me nervous too - really sluggish when cold, revving high before shifting.

I drained my trans fluid, which was not only brown but probably 1-2 quarts low, and replaced with new fluid - Voila! no more transmisssion problems.

As far as the finacial part, chalk it up to a lesson learned I guess. Can't tell you how much money I could have saved if I had only found the org a year or two sooner!

Not the most attractive idea, but... some companies will pay you to advertise their company on your car.. extra $ every month means you can pay off the car quicker and get rid of it!

Lavalife spinners ftw.. ?
