Gaslock Shift ****

Darn! If I had a 5spd and the money to burn, I'd get this. But since I don't, I thought I'd share and see if anyone who has a 5 or 6 spd would consider getting this.

Besides being the most radical-looking shift **** on the planet, the Gaslock Indy Cater has an energy-saving function. It tells you the exact point to shift to save gas, and if you follow its timely shifting tips, you can end up spending 15% less on fuel. It's not going to give you astonishing mileage like that 200 mpg Velozzi hybrid we showed you yesterday, but still, 15% savings might come in handy.

Its auto-dimming LEDs adjust to ambient light so they won't be too distracting, and the shifter also has a helpful numerical indicator that reminds you what gear you're currently using. It's not only a super-cool addition to your car's interior, but the company says it's easy to install. See more close-ups of the Indy Cater on the next page.

It'll be cool for the first 20 minutes. Actually, looking at it right now, I've already gotten bored of it. Then again, I have a short attention span in my old age.

That's kind of dumb. The LED is in the exact place about 90 percent of those who drive a manual place their hand when shifting or preparing to shift. it does look kind of cool, but still...

Its not perfect, nor for everyone, however its different, so I like it. I would buy one if I were manual.

Yeah i like it too. Looks interesting, but i wouldn't buy that shifter, cuz is pricey and won't match my interior lightning...

If anyone wants the shift ****, you can get it from HERE for just $203.67

I've always wondered when driving down the road... what gear am I actually in?

Well, here's the solution. now all you have to do is take your eyes off the road for 2 short seconds and look down pointlessly. Invention of the year.

If they had given you a separate LED or something it might have been worthwhile. But to the tune of $170 (also I believe if you're not on level ground it screws it up, it uses a level sensor) it's not such a hot idea.

Kind of like the name though, "Indy-Cator"

What ever happened to knowing what gear you are in by feel, whether its feel of the shifter or feel of the engine/rpm.

Unless you drive one of these then maybe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAADEoJpTFQ

I didn't totally pay attention, but if you're shifting one gearbox then you can double clutch, and the other one then you double clutch again. = quadruple clutch. Those boxes aren't synchronized.
