I got my lip painted last night, it looks great I'm gonna put it on in a couple days....but the problem is - someone threw out the box it came in, inside the box was the instructions, tape, and screws and whatever else...smart..

I tried the serach but came up with nothing....
Does anyone have any tips on installing? Is any double sided tape ok or should i look for somethign specific, has anyone scanned the instruction sheets before?

I read on maximadriver.com , is this the best way to do it?

thanks

Use 3M automotive 'fender' tape, its red and sticks very well. This is definitely a do it yourself kind of thing. Chestons directions are fine.

help

Well I'm having a few problems trying to do this....

"Now with the FRONT LIP test fit it to the front of the car. On both sides, there is a screw, holding in part of the fender wall. This conviently is the exact location on where the sides of the front lip are going to be attached to.... remove the screws."

First of all there are NO screws ANYWHERE..so I don't know what he means here, this is a 95 btw...Maybe theres screws on a 97+ but I Have none....

"and screw THROUGH the lip into the hole where you removed that screw from.."

I can't do this since there is no hole...

So I pretty much don't know what to do exactly, I mean I want to do it perfectly..I'm also having a bit of trouble just fitting it onto the car with 2 people...

i had simular problems..... instead od two people use 2 boxes and one in the middle.... this will hold the lip up enough to get the tape where it is needed/...then you are going to have to drill a screw into the fender b/c there is no screw on the 95.. mins didnt come with one either

How many screws did you use? Just one on each corner?

What size screws? Do you think I'd be able to pierce through the lip and the car with a screwdriver or should I drill first?

I gotta find drill and some bits now

thanks

When I put my lip on (96 SE) it literally popped on without anything supporting it. I was amazed it fit so well. You're gonna need a lot more than just tape to hold it on. I've got a bolt and nut holding each corner (drilled thru the lip and fender), tape, and two screws drilled thru the center front of the lip into the nose.

BTW, you should've have painted the lip. I left mine unpainted and it looks great on a black Maxima. The first curb you hit (you will do this the first day you get it on), the paint will most likely "spider web". Urethane doesn't like paint.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaarghh

I've come to the conclusion I cant do this on my own, at least not with the right tools..

Medisonic: Where can I get that "automotive 3m fender tape" ?

I live In Canada...

Anywhere online?

I drilled 2 holes, but the tape I had sucks and is not strong enough to hold it properly...and It just doesnt feel lined up properly...I dont know where to stick the tape exactly either...what place? and on the lip or on the car...

Does anyone have the Stillen instruction sheet scanned or typed out?

thanks

i only have two screws holding mine..... the 3M tape i got was from home depot.. dunno if you have those there but the package says a inch will hold up to 5-10 lbs... so its strong. get some of that and put it right where the lip touches the bumper all the way around.. i have had mine for 3 weeks now and no problem...

Dave B: How did you get screws through the lip and bumper.... i tried and couldnt find a place this would work.... the body shop even told me it wasnt possible

You are right, the little lip in the wheelwell really isnt big enough, but a small enough screw will fit in there. The 3M tape is available in most automotive stores, and should be available in Home Depot. Its about 1/2 inch and red, and rahter thin.

Simple. Get underneath the car. There is a "chin" on the spoiler which rests up against the bumper and it's only about an inch deep. I took my drill and a 1/8th bit and drilled thru the spoiler and into the bumper. I then took some diameter larger tapping screws and screwed them in. I then took a couple pieces of sheet metal (2"X4"X1/8") and bolted them up to the center splash guard. I then lined then up underneath the chin of the spoiler. These aren't mounted to the spoiler in any way, but they are there to keep the spoiler from falling down and getting run over in case I hit something large. I did all this after I got the spoiler taped and bolted up. I've had no problems since putting it on back in March. I've also hit a few curbs with it and have had no problems.
