Is it bad to wash your car in a toughless
car wash, does the high pressure cause damage to the paint over the time. How about the wash brush that have the soap come out, are those bad will they scratch a new paint? Or is the old fashion by hand the best bet.
thats what alot of people use, myself included. i heard that with crapy paint jobs and freshly painted cars you have to stay away from them, but i've never seen a issue with the high pressuer on mine. as for the soap brush your on your own on that. i get the feeling that it's still holding onto the dirt from the last guy and could scratch the paint.. i just use the highpressure soap. if your cars that dirty maybe u'll wanna soap it up by hand but the brush scares me.. lol

i just use a spounge. works for me..
got no $$ for the expensive pressure washers.
but if you want a rEALLY clean car, get urself a Clay bar (mothers/clay magic) ... OH baby. i used it on my car? and the paint is sooooo smooth!!! crazy.

I wouldn't worry about scratches too much, but I don't use them because I don't trust their soap to not strip wax. So, I go late at night, and hand wash. $1 to hose down the car and fill up my bucket, about 10 minutes to wash it with good soap and a sponge, and another $1 to rinse it down. It's all good...
do NOT use the brushes at the car wash.. Around here, kids/teenagers/etc have a habit of sticking chunks of broken glass in the brushes specifically to scratch the hell out of your car.. funny, eh? {bastards}
they also like to fill a water gun with paint stripper and drive around shooting parked cars.. in the last 5 years, they've done over $2MILLION in damage between the car wash and water guns.. My truck got stripped once too.. not fun.
back to the point..
most of the time, those brushes are filled with dirt/grime/sand/etc from the last car. Those things are generally so nasty, I wouldn't even use those to scrub the concrete. I made the mistake of washing my car a few times with those brushes, even after spraying the brush off with the hi-presure sprayer... it STILL scratched the hell out of my clear coat. I had to buff the car twice to get the marks to go away.
