Maxima Speed limits
I was just wondering from reading some of the posts there that there seems to be a thought that the 95-99 GXE and GLE's have speed limiters up to 117mph, while the SE's can top to 130? is that what most people here found from pushing their car? I think I will give it a try--provided there is no cars and no troopers on the turnpike this weekend...I have done 100--but there is usually so many unmarked state troopers around...well, if anyone has any thoughts --

I have a 97 GXE. I'm also in the Air Force, stationed in Germany. My car was originally speed limited to 112 mph, which really sucked since I can legally speed on the autobahns over here. I purchased the JWT ECU from Megamax about a month ago, and now I have gotten over 140 mph indicated on the speedometer, at 6200 rpm. I know the JWT ECU raises the rev limiter, so I don't know what kind of speed I could have got if I stayed in it. I enjoy life too much to push the car much further than I did. Although I do have to admit it was very stable and composed at that speed.
I know according to dynos done on the JWT ECU's, that only seven to ten hp is to be had...well let me tell you, that ECU transformed my Maxima into what my wife now refers to as a beast. The midrange is incredible. For everyone looking for an ECU upgrade, don't discount JWT, as they can make the 95 ECU work for a 97!

Speeds, my 89 max 5 speed, my 95 SE 5 spd.
89 max did 128 at about 5000 rpms, thats about as fast as I could go on I270 around Columbus before coming up on other cars and just plain freakin out.
my 95 with adaption i've only had up to about 120, with much less problem, but man this is fast folks, even on a highway.
but now ya go me wonderin, i think i'm going have to find out what the fourth gen will do!!!!!!!!!! such a bummer,
and by the way
thanks

Got my max up to between,
150-157MPH,you ask how do I know this, easy if and when your Max tacks out in 5th gear you are definetly going over one 150MPH.I think aerodynamics play the largest roll when your in triple digit speeds,so I bet any of you guys could increase your top speed around 10MPH by lowering your and instaling a aero Kit,but make sure that puppys bolted on other wise it will just fly right off most likely going 150.
yeup
So what you guys are telling me is that despite the fact that the darn speedometer says 140--and that our cars do have the power and potential to reach that figure, there is a limiter that kicks in at 120. By the way, what is the deal with that gov limiter thing? can anyone explain that? and why is it that they let the older model maximas--with speedometers of 125 go so darn balzing fast...honestly, they don't make things like the way they use to
and yes, highway speed limit is really 65 here, but who really does go 65
I'd be cursed out doing 65...heheh

. Shortly after that I blew the headgasket
, but now I got a work car so I can fix the max again. This time I won't f*** it up like I did the last time. My rpm was in the same place as the pic below only that my speedo was pasted 125mph
