Maxima & Altima Shared Tranny

I'm new here, but I have a 06 Altima SE-R. I couldn't get an answer from the altima boards, so maybe someone here can help me out since both cars share the same tranny. Can the auto tranny from the I30/I35 with the VLSD fit into the altima, saw some where on the boards where it has the same auto tranny as our cars but with a VLSD.

both cars are different but the engines are the same but the altima produces a little more power out of theres then it does in the maxima. is your altima stick or auto.

Auto, I was wondering if we could transplant the I30/I35 tranny with the LSD to wither one of our cars.

Why would you do that. VLSD is only avaliable in the 4th gen maxima VQ30DE the HLSD is Avaliable in the 5.5 Generation Maxima 6 speed. you can tell if you have this by the pedals if there silver with holes in them.

HLSD yes. You can buy the diff and have a reputable shop install it in your existing trans. call Dave B at southpoint nissan he will offer you a good price, i think they are around $600

edit: This is granted that you have a manual trans, auto you are out of luck AFAIK

So, in the end you're giving up a forward gear for an LSD. Not a good idea. I'd gladly give up a VLSD for another gear.

What's the benefit of the added gear?
