that was the funniest thing I've read all night.

OP: Scraped knuckles, scraped knuckles, road grime in eyeballs, scraped knuckles, and oh yeah, did I say scraped knuckles?

Also, I don't know if this counts, but when I used to live at home, and had my 93, I probably injured my sister first off because of the "tastefull" language I would use when replacing the entire front suspension (I didn't know she was there once, and I was saying things that would make a sailor blush).
Right around the same time, I was replacing both axles, and I did my driver-side LCA. I have never, ever been more covered in dirt and oil in my life, literally, head to toe, soaked through the shirt, face, hands, arms, legs, neck. I was working on wrenching it in, and she looked under the car, and saw a person she wasn't expecting (she was 3, I don't think she was able to discern that is was me but I was covered in oil) and screamed bloody murder into the house. My mother ran out because she thought my car fell off the jackstands on me lol. When I was doing that LCA, I almost wished it had lol

Bwinter, between you and Seby, I am having a hard time keeping my dinner down!

This is the perfect pick me up I needed. Imagine it for a second, my entertainment, totally free, at everyone else's self admitted injuries! Just what the doctor ordered.

The worst injury I've had is scraped knuckles also. Oh wait, I've gotten my palm pinched in vise grips....Blood blister and all.

I also inflicted pain on a 17mm socket while trying to drop a friends car. Cracked it in 6 places....

I was installing illumina rears on the car, jacked the car up wrong, I actaully jacked it up on the rear swivel point. I loosend the rear strut bolt from the swivel and couldn't figure out why there was so much resistance getting out, I took a hammer to it and it came out then the car dropped down 4 inches or so, my right hand got cut, cut a vein and severed some nerves, I took a leather belt to squeeze off circulation, wife freaking out cause of the blood, I thought it was just a flesh wound and tried to finish the job before I went to the ER. Got 6 stiches and the area between my knuckles of my first and second finger have a dead spot nervewise. Learned a valuable lesson that day..first time doing rear struts, but no matter what pay attention to what you are doing and make sure the car is jacked up properly. It's been a couple years since but have the scars and nerve damage still, no big deal tho, it could have been way worse.

Did your wife get all the blood out? Question is, does she let you work alone anymore?

(being a woman, I get her totally when it comes to panic, and yet I enjoy working on my car as well. I understand both sides of the coin).

I was on the way to spray the final coat of clear on my friends max when I realized that when I closed the paint booth door my finger was stuck.I had sliced the skin off the tip.Didnt want to look at it so it was covered up with some rags and a glove till I was done.Afterwards when it was finally examined I got dizzy and almost fainted.

Crap/dirt falling into my eyes while under the car (don't forget to wear safety glasses), sore back and muscles, numerous scraped knuckles, and other minor cuts. No horrific stories from me.

The usual scrapes, cuts, and minor burns. I broke one of my fingers when I lost my grip on a drum brake spring. But seems everyone wants a laugh and I've had a couple that qualify so here goes:

Working on my Dakota a few years back replacing a crank-shaft sensor. Move the truck to get it into the shade and crawl under it. Did you know a catalytic converter gets to full operational temperature pretty darn fast? Neither did I, then. Reached up and heard/smelled/felt the inside of my arm sizzling as it touched the side of the cat. I, of course, yelled a 4 letter word pretty loud…then sat straight up, forgetting I was underneath a pick-up. Gashed my scalp on something underneath there. Needed three stitches for that one.

Dad's got pins in couple fingers from being crushing by flying suspension parts. This's back in the 70s when he worked for FireStone.

my eardrums have permanet damage from my wife yelling at me about modding my car which i never let her drive and that she swears i am having an affair with so the only way to shut down the voices in my head was to get her one of her own and now she wont stop yelling at me about NOT modding her car!

yes that is a run-on sentence. :0

I was installing a cold air intake on one of my previous cars and couldn't get the original equipment intake off. I pulled and pulled but it wouldn't budge. Finally I put one foot on the top of the engine, got under the hood, grabbed the intake with both hands and reefed on it as hard as I could. Well it came off alright !!! The momentum caused the intake to hit me in the face which caused me to bash the back of my head on the open hood. I had to get a couple of stiches to close the cut where my teeth went through my lip, but the knock on the back of my head almost knocked me out. I couldn't stand up without getting dizzy for about 30 minutes

Besides the many, many cuts and bruises, the scars of which my hands are full of, when I became possessed by the demon of the Q45 caliper retrofit, I was made to grind the side of my right index finger on a stone grinder. For those who don't believe me, I've got pics. Fair warning though - they are not for the fainthearted.

I always use protective gear like gloves, long sleeve shirts and close toe shoes for whatever I do in my car. But when I was opening some bolt with flathead screwdriver it slipped off from the bolt and made an 2 inch long cut on my hand. For 5-6 seconds it wasnt blooding so I still have a memory of how my hand looks under its skin.
Moreover, when I was changing oil on my dad's camry for the first time so I had trouble getting off the oil filter. It was getting dark so I didn't want to go to parts store again so I used all my wristpower and took it off! Guess what for couple of weeks I had to wear wrist guard from my skating gear. Next time OIL FILTER WRENCH for me, please!

I've had lots of bumps, bruises, scrapes, and burns. never any stitches or broken bones, but here's the worst of my injuries:

bout 4 years ago, I was welding together a custom 3" exhaust for a friend (.orgy member to remain nameless).... I was laying under the car on my back with everything from the cat to the muffler together and in place held up by jack stands, all that was left was to tack the cat converter flange onto the downpipe coming from the header.

I slide into place and just as I'm about to tack it with the MIG, my friend decided he didn't like where the muffler was sitting so he grabbed it and moved it over about 2"...

This caused the entire section from the cat to the muffler to fall......... and LAND ON MY FACE!!
it broke one of my front teef in half and punched a hole through my lower lip with the broken tooth. all my teeth are whacked out of alignment, and I'll have to go through ANOTHER 2 years of braces to line everything up if I want it all fixed properly.

the guy didn't even offer an apology or anything, and it's going to cost me $500 just to get the tooth fixed- even with insurance. not even going to think about the cost of braces again. so I still look like a redneck 4 years later going around with a broken front toof. Serves me as a reminder to never work on a car with morons around.

The ORG is great

All the info you need when fixing problems with your car and entertainment too.Apart from bumping my head on my garage door a hundred times a day and bruised knuckles I would say I AM STILL IN THE PINK.
