People keep telling me to be careful with my NOS kit because they think it is going to ruin my car. I was going to buy a jet that would put out 50 hp to be safer. Now the question I have is would my 50 shot be safer than the SC since it puts out less power? Where can I get very detailed instructions and pictures for installing my NOS kit?

From what I understand, I am no expert an have no NOS or SC experience, NOS tends to run more lean than SC. The leaner you run the more chance you have to have to detonate and blow pistons.

SC tends to give a more progressive power, a more consistant boost across the range. NOS gives you a kick in the pants.

I would say that a 50 shot is certainly safe since people are SC boosting 60-70-80-90 HP.

NOS is certainly cheaper than a SC, but from what I hear any serious boost in HP to a slopomatic car also requires a valvebody recalibration. Don in Texas, who does most (all?) of the VB work seems to be way overloaded.

the NOS instructions that come with the kit are pretty good already so you shouldn't have much trouble installing it if you follow that. if you want more info, go to the tech section of http://www.maximadriver.com and i've got an article about nitrous there. the term "safe" is relative and all depends on how you use your 50shot. i wouldn't go around spraying a 50shot constantly from stoplight to stoplight. see... with nitrous, you aren't constantly ragging on your engine - as with a supercharger. so in that respect i suppose it's "safer".

The instructions don't look too hard but I wanted a good guide to back me up if I run into any troubles. I wanted something more Maxima specific and I wanted pictures to see the best way to send the hose underneath the car. I am just trying to get as much info as I can.

Copy Cat JJ

Nice expansion of the specifics, perhaps it will curtail some of the same old questions.

We need a nitrous forum, either here or on clubmaxima.com or some place.

So I guess the consensus is that it is safer right? Where can I get cool gauges besides carparts.com and summitracing.com? Is there anything else I need to do to my car? It is a 5 speed not an automatic
