A couple of weeks ago, I posted a note about the problems I had after driving through some flooded streets in Miami after what was an unexpected deluge.

As it turned out, my radiator was shot and needed to be replaced. The service manager said that the water which rose to the level of the fan resulted in the fan functioning as a propellar (like a boat). The fan pushed the water back, but because it is plastic also bent forward. The fan was then hitting the fins of the radiator causing a hole which resulted in a leak (I guess that's why I was able to drive it for a few days after the floods before noticing any problems).

The radiator was replaced, a compression test performed on the engine, the oil changed and the transmission fluids changed. The brakes were cleaned and checked. Cost me a buck large. Insurance covered it less the deductible. It took two weeks to get the car back. Good thing the air intake is located high on the car! I picked it up last night. All seems well. A whole lot better than the Taurus I was driving as a rental while the work was being done.
