Summary: did the 3" oscai and K&N filter mess up my ECU so that when I start my car it is begging for air but cant receive it as it does when the car is moving?

I have a question for you, I installed an OSCAI a couple of weeks ago and had a stock air filter, my car started fine.
A week later I installed a new 3" oscai for more airflow, installed a K&N filtercharger AND reset my ECU according to BrianV(.net)'s instructions.
A couple of days later my car started hesitating to start. at first when i turned the key it would NOT even make a sound, it was just quiet and it didnt turn over. after a little time it did start but VERY POORLY, the rpms were jumping up and down.
Anyway, now this happens everyday: the car turns over and starts whirring but DOES NOT start. could this be my starter? or did the INCREASED airflow with the OSCAI and K&N mess up my ECU? could it be that the car is begging for more air when I start it and it cant receive it because air isnt being pushed into the OSCAI like it is at speed?

I guarantee that any increase in airflow id not mess up your ECU. Make sure all your connections to the Intake Air Temp and MAF sensors are tight and then test those components for proper operation.
I can scan the Haynes Manual pages for these if you want.

it sounds like a sensor problem. Make sure the MAF sensor and all temperature sensors are plugged in and working ok. There is a way to test the MAF sensor with a voltmeter... don't know how off the top of my head though. Several people are running that setup and no one has reported any problems with it so far....

..
Sounds like another person who gets to join the "I-botched-my-MAF-sensor" club!
Are the RPM's jumpy, and car stalling when you hit 2-3k RPM? Did you in any way touch the mechanics of the MAF sensor? (ie, the important parts, like the 4 screws holding the 3 connections inside the sensor)..

i never touched the MAF or anything around it, just took out the pipe that goes to the resonator. the car runs fine, it reached 4k rpms(i dont like pushing it too much).
i dont know whats up, this is ****ing me off
when the car DOES start, the rpms jump up and down between 500 and 1200 for like 15 seconds.
