took the day off yesterday, as it was my Birthday, and I had to pick up our marriage license and wedding bands.
Tuesday night, en route to pick up my fiance` from her mothers house, I'm sitting at a traffic light when a Red 4dr M3 turns the corner in front of me. The next traffic light catches him, and I pull directly behind him at this light. A few blocks later we both enter the Expressway and he immediately jumps to the far left lane (3 lane highway here) and floors it. (it's a stick, as I was behind him for several blocks) I am stuck waiting for merging traffic so I wait in line. About 2 miles later I catch up to him (I was running about 85) then I slow down and tuck behind him, and we're doing about 60. I flash my lights at him, and he floors it (telltale puff of smoke out of the tailpipe). I downshift to 3rd and follow. He's 1 carlenght in front of me, and in 3rd gear I'm slowly reeling him in. When I shift to 4th (just under 100) I start to pull more strongly on him. The road is wide open, no traffic or police, so I stay in it. In 4th gear, I move to his left and proceed to slowly walk him. I stay in the throttle just enough until I pass him, (at around 115) then I back off and brake to a more normal speed. Mr M3 slows down as well. I slowed down to see if he would come alongside, to try it again, but he wouldn't pull alongside. As I exited the Expressway, he followed. He gave me a thumbs up at the traffic light at the end of the ramp and went on his way.
I was surprised that I took him, and a little glad that I did so quickly. I would've been really embarassed to slam into my limiter at 140 while he continued to walk away from me

What are you trying to imply? Why are you saying this in the Maxima forum? Are you trying to say that your car is faster than a Max and that it could chase a M3?

just wondering

Re: both good cars

It was a E36 M3 you raced...They dont make a 4 door E46 M3, just a Coupe and a Convertible. A E46 M3 would have beaten you badly.

Thought the E36 M3 could do 5.9. It really wouldn't be too close of a race. Many M3 owners are car enthusiasts, can you imagine what their drives would be like daily if they challenged every Honda or Nissan or Toyota or Acura that started following them? Their cars have more bite than bark.

I posted a msg to you yesterday but accidently had it as TimW not JimW...Duh. Anyways it got edited since Bill didn't like it. Basically a girl friend of mine leaning over my Max with her backside in the air (no nudity). I guess us young guys still like that kind of stuff?

Hope yours went well? Mine was fun fo' sho'

Chip it and save yourself from potential future embarassment. Nice kill.

'00 Audi A6 2.7T 6 spd.
Two Turbos, no waiting.
Best e.t. 14.41 @ 94.99 mph
2.01 60 ft. time
Best mph 14.51 @ 96.45 mph
2.3 60 ft time

dang man! that 2.01 is a fantastic launch! but it's odd that your 2.01 launch and your 2.3 launch resulted on very similiar 1/4 times. do you feel your car has pretty good top end?
