I see a lot of people talking about upgrading their cars with VLSD and was wondering what kind of difference it makes when trying to launch the car. My biggest complaint about the Maxima, and probably all FWD cars, is how easy it is to lose traction. Does the VLSD make that much difference? Also I've seen people say it eliminates all the torque steer...true?

Thanks

I am glad that no VTC was mentioned on this post, despite the fact that the word VLSD was used....

btw, RWD lose even more traction.

Hey speaking of that. Did you get a chance to read those links? I finally REREAD those and come to find that Nissan(Japan only), Porsche and I think Toyota in fact DO have dual profile cam tech similar to Honda. Although I don't NEO stands for the cam tech, it is installed on those types of engines.

My original statement is still true. VTC does not equal VTEC.

Well, to answer the original question. VLSD stands for Viscous Limited Slip Differnetial. The key part of this is the LSD. (No pun intended)

What the LSD does is transfer power to the wheel with the MOST grip. A standard differential will send power to wheel that is easiest to spin, the one with the least traction.

The obvious benefit is that there is less wheel spin and better acceleration.

Pontiac coined the term Positraction.
