This is embarrassing!!! We raced from a stoplight to like 100mph, from the start to about 80-90, he had about 1.5 car on me. He wasn't pulling away and I wasn't gaining. The celica is faster than I thought. I thought I'd walk by him. The celica was stick and mine's an auto. Man, I should have been driving my twin brother's ypipe+intake equipped 5th gen. Then I could have shown him what the Maxima is all about.

Oh yeah, well I was spanked(yes spanked) by my buddy's 98 Grand Cherokee Limited. 2 stoplights in a row. No one in my car, his wife and daughter in his. Yes I've got an auto and he has a V8(not even the R/Ts 360), but I was still beaten pretty bad.

That was a low point in my life.

there is no way a celica GT beat you.
I have a Celica GT-S 6spd and used to own a 97 GLE. My celica is only a bit faster.
also, I've raced my friend's Anniversary Edition Max 5spd when we were both stock and it came out to a tie up to 65 mph.

 

i got beat like 4 times by my freind with a gt... suckers are pretty quick... gears are crazy for draggin dont know about the top end though... that celica beat my freinds 200sx se-r with intake and hotshot headers too (1/8 in high 9s)...

140hp with a 2400 pound body is not a bad combo.... but its probly the gears that make it a fast car

but im an auto too so... dont know how a 5 spd would do against one...

kit99- i would think that your car would have alot more pull than a max in the top end...0-65 doesn't really tell anything... you car is sapose to run mid 14s stock right??? maxes run mid 15s, high 14s with a crazy driver in the seats...

 

naw, my car doesn't do mid 14s stock. it'd do low 15s witha good driver

anyhow I think maximas and celicas are so close in acceleration that it'd all come down to the better driver

but of course.... you guys have superchargers. can you beleive that the maxima has a bigger aftermarket than the celicas? man it's sad. We dont' even have altezzas

 

celicas had altezzas a while ago saw em on 2 celicas at a show

the gt has a sc kit comin out soon or already out cuz my buddy was lookin at it like a month ago b-4 i left and came back

Jeep Grand Cherokees do 0-60 in 7.2 with the 5.2 Magnum and i think the same for the new 4.7L... they are pretty damn fast and the Magnum 5.9s run 6.7s...

 

What sucks is I was talking all kinds of smack. Basically, he launched and I launched. I spun a lil and he just went. My tires hooked around the time that my front bumper was at his rear. After that we pretty much stayed there up to around 90mph. I would start walking on him from 90 to 130, but I generally try to avoid killing people.

Lots of torque but really cheesy truck. Build quality is on par with my 91 Sonata.
