Re: MegaMax
Megamax, I definitely think my times were due to me being new to the game and trusting my tranny to shift for me in high RPM's.
I think the next time I am visiting my mom in NY, I would like to meet up with some of you guys at E-Town to see what I can run.

Maxus was My Wife's First time at the Track too..
http://www.5thgenmaximas.com/maxus20...adies_Race.mpg
She ran a 16.0
Next time you are Up here post a Notice i'm sure other would like an excuse to go to the track as well..
When I ran (And the Wife) It was in Drive and the AUTO did it's JOB and shifted for us.
I have tried to do it manually in the past and the times were slower.
So far the best is 15.4 at E-Town I can't wait to see what it does now that I added the Greddy Cat Back. The Maxus Times I don't care for...

That is amazing! The 250HP+ twin turbo 6spd modded Audi and 260HP+ modded Acura Type S musta been like whoa! You don't even have a Y-Pipe on yet..not using the baby bottle...no boost at all! Damn! And consistancy as well not just a "one hit wonder" like most.
So you are the only NA Max to break 15's? You must put a lot of expensive high HP cars to shame!

duct tape story:
I pull into the hotel parking lot and 30-40 people are looking at my car so I pop the hood. My pop charger is sitting next to the battery and the duct tape that was holding the BrianV style intake was just too hot to maintain stickyness. I purchased a used jim wolf from DMB and it was installed on the spot.

Someone else with a green 5th gen 5 spd with an exhaust and Y-pipe ran 14.8's. Don't know his name, but that's what I was told.

Re: Dude, don't be a clown all the time, OK?-->
Still trying to figure out that lil debate we had 30mph-90mph punch from a roll where you would pull 3-4 cars ("stock" A6 6spd) on a 5spd 2K+ with y-pipe and intake. I assume you 60ft is much better than most cars let alone a Max so matching up slips minus out the start factor would make it even more interesting. Just observing...

A modded auto max one of the faster ones on the east coast (CAI, Y, Greddy, etc) got reeled in by me (when he had the jump) from 70-120, and I never downshifted out of 6th gear. Meaning he passed me WOT, I floored it behind him. (I managed to pull alongside and pull to dead even with him)
Another scenario, similar car, but I downshifted. From 70-120 ish, I steadily jogged away from them. No chance at all. Couldn't even try to match pace.
A 5th gen 5 spd with that same combo will have about 20 hp more to the wheels. So I won't run away from them as quickly. If you went and test drove the 6 spd 2.7T you'd understand better. In the 1/4 mile the car is decently quick, but once rolling, the car is much faster than you'd think. Not yanking your chain, but a 5 spd 5th gen with intake and Y would probably stay close from say 30-60,(within 1-2 cars) but after that he will get easily walked on.

I don't know if that's entirely true. Your car is capable of 95-96mph trap speeds plus you get off the line harder. Seeing that your trap speeds are no better than most modded 5th gens and even some 4th gens, I don't see how you can easily pull away in the topend. Your car gets off the line better due to more traction, but it doesn't generate any more acceleration. Trap speeds are clear indicator of what the car is truely capable of. Your car puts down all it's power where as the Max has to find that fine line between traction and acceleration.
Observation: I think you sometimes base the Maxima's acceleration on how your auto Max ran. Now you've got a manual tranny and it feels world's faster. Don't forget that Maximas come with manuals too and are a bit quicker than their auto counterparts. In the terms of "feel", the manual Max feels MUCH faster, but on paper it's about .5 quicker. On paper, your Audi TT looks to be no faster than a strong running NA modded 4th/5th gen 5 speed. You say you'd walk a 5th gen after 60mph. What are your 1/8th trap speeds? A 14.5@96 suggests 76mph traps which is no better than say MadMax's 14.4@96mph 5th gen. My 4th gen hits 75mph when I'm running 14.7-14.8.
BTW, I'm not trying to flame ya.

Re: OK, think about this scenario-->
There is no way a stock A6 6spd would walk a 2k+ 5Spd Max with Y-Pipe and Intake anywhere above 30mph! It would be close but I think you might actually lose stock let alone with the mods you have now. Your car is modded and barely squeeked out a better time than theblue who doesn't even have a y-pipe and is also NA as well as another 2k+ NA driver? Your races were against autos and they are no where near the performance of a 5spd (with the same mods) especially on the highway. 20HP to the wheels plus the gearing of the 5spd makes a significant difference. 2k+ with y-pipe and intake pulls hard to 120 in 4th gear. Doesn't your car also have top speed limiter as well under 140?

Wanna run me @ E-Town? ![Wink](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Do realize this is a comparison of a 6 speed vs 5 speed and forced inducted vs N/A. Sometimes numbers dont make sense but i guess people will have to see it to believe it.

you called for me so here we go. My mods are Y-pipe, CAI, HKS Rear Section.
3 Runs in the 14.8z all 3 at trap speed of 96mph.
1st run
1/4 time 14.88 R/T .781 Speed 96.08 60ft 2.37

1/4 time 14.83 R/T .750 Speed 96.00 60ft 2.37
Every Run I spun tires all through 1st, I know it can do better. My tires are sorta bald and my clutch is slipping.
