tire size makes max slower?

would 225/55/16 make my car slower then the stock 215/55/16??? i know there not much difference just wondering

According to the handy tire size calculator, your speedometer will be slower by 1.711% So at 100mph, your speedo will read just above 98mph.

However if you were to go to a 235/50/16 you would only be 0.2333% too fast. Here's the link I used to get these percentages for further reference.

i guess i was asking more about 1/4 mile times, like from a stand still and taking off

Yes, larger diameter will give you slower times in acceleration but higher top end speed.

but from 215/55 to 225/55 is that going to make a difference in 1/4 mile? i sure hope not

Yes and NO...It depends if you change the wheel to a lighter wheel or a heaver wheel. Also it depends on the tire some tires are more gripy than others. It all plays a roll.

You won't feel the difference but the numbers will show slight differences. Just remember that a larger diameter tire takes longer to make one full revolution than a smaller tire.

From the numbers I saw at the track at Maxus, I didn't see terrible numbers from people than ran big wheels. I am still on stock 15's and I could be running a whole lot better.
