The only part that actaully goes bad is the plastic bearing(noises when that goes bad). Did you cut one notch off the bumpstops when you installed you Eibachs? That might be the knocking. Did you do the install or have someone install the suspension for you? Also check to make sure the center bolt, the one that can be viewed from the engine bay(throught the shock tower) is tightened to 50 ft/lbs or there will be alot of noise.

When you say "knocking" what exactly do you mean by that. I just installed H&Rs and KYBs about 500 miles ago and Ive recently been hearing like a croaking type noise when I turn the wheel for fairly tight turns. Is this what you are referring to?

I thought it just meant that my strut bolts were too tight and I was just gonna check them to make sure they were around 31 ft/lbs.

I have bad strut bearings as well (that plastic part). Whenever I turn the steering wheel at low speeds, I hear a groaning clunking sound. I plan to get them changed out sometime...just not now as they aren't particularly dangerous.

Strut bearings would make sense. Do you think the bearings going bad have anything to do with an upgraded suspension (i.e. new springs/shocks/struts) or more of a regular "wear-and-tear" type deal?

Make sure that the springs are also lined up correctly. If they are seated wrong, they will continue to groan. The little orange piece has to go in there too (the spacer on the top keeps metal from rubbing on metal).

i did them myself about a year ago
when i make real sharp slow turns it clunks really bad
and the middle bolt on the right side is not centered like the left one is. and about the springs being aligned correctly, now im really wondering about that, will have to take it apart and see.

I just checked to make sure that my strut bolts were torqued correctly and they all were a bit too tight. I re-torqued them to around 33 ft/lbs and the croaking has decreased but it's still there.

I did the install myself with the help of some buddies and I was pretty meticulous about the entire operation. What exactly is meant by lining up the springs?

If you looked at the rubber on the bottom of the perch/mount, there was a 'seat' for the spring to sit on. When you torqued the retaining nut (the center one), the spring has a tendency to become unseated and can stay in the wrong position when applied to the car.
