I was looking through the Summit Racing catalog, and K&N (as well as other companies) have these valve cover breathers. They are little mini air filters. Where do they go, what are they for and do they help performance wise?

I don't think there are applications for those in our Maximas.

i think they actually can go in place of the oil cap, at least thats what the pepboys guy told me, i tried it, but the stem was too short, also i did see a pic of one that someone put on the right side of the valve cover instead of the hose to the intake, hope thats a good start

Anyone know what the hose that sits next to the air breather hose that is right next to the auto tranny dipsticl is? It is in the same bracket, but is open on the end near the dipstick.

I think they are all universal. Just find the right size.

I think they are made by APC. I have 2 of them but just 1 on the car. they are so that an unburned gas charge wont vent back into the intake and use up any oxygen space in the cumbustion chamber. they are only like $9 at pep boys

In my old Laser,I used the filter to prevent recirculation of air from the engine going back into the intake, because some oil would also get by,and hurt turbo's performance. Also looks cool

I put mine in the same place as Y2KevSE. I had the other one on the air resonator thing( the hole where the hose is on the intake resonator) but someone told me to not put one there and to just plug it.

those air breathers are kewl, i'm gonna get one for my car so i can take off that stupid hose from the CAI pipe and just plug it with something for now i guess. either that or i'll chop it and patch it up. i will try to find out what size you need.
