Bad news 1st:
Got the police report. Spoke to my insurance company. As anticipated, I am at fault for this. Not a single penny will be coming my way. All damages on my car will be outta my own pocket. I'll be getting a $500 bill for liability pretty soon

Good news:
My full coverage will increase from $1450/yr (which I didn't have ofcourse) to $1700/yr (with the accident considered). I think that's very reasonable for NJ and with what had happened.
I picked up a steering gear box for a fraction of OEM cost($700+). That will work just fine. The same goes for both front fenders. As for the rest of the stuff, I'm doing as much legwork as needed to cut the initial estimate cost down. With all things considered, the car will have a face lift, Phase II under way

I can't say enough thanks to everyone on the board (u kno who u are) who were kind enough to send their regards. You guys/gals are the best!
The car out of commission for another 3-4 weeks. Hopefully the wait is worth while.

All in all tho, this is good news. Your liability is tiny -- I mean think of how lucky you are no one got hurt...

and your insurance is going up, but not TOOO bad.

damn, i feel for you Ange..

Hope you can make it beautiful again soon
I just called Geico on my new Max, I actually registered it in my dads name, but I'm now reported as a driver 18 years old, had the license for over a year now but still... On my 3rd gen we had liability and we paid only 890$ for the whole year for 2 cars here in Staten Island! My dad used to pay 1,800$ for that much in Brooklyn. With my new max, I got collision, some vandalizm crap and liability and it's around 1,800$ for 2 cars for the full year, the other car is still Liability but because of my max, it's up. So I pay about a thousand a year having it registered as a household vehicle on my father, with me and my mom as drivers. My bro is 24 and he pays 1,800$ a year in Staten Island.

Good luck Ange

I have a 2-page long list of parts I need to get for her. Whenever possible, I'm getting parts from salvage yards (car-parts.com) rather than OEM. Stuff that tough to find (like the grill assembly) or parts that are best for me to get brand new, I'll go through places like Courtesy Nissan etc.
Those darn TSWs are built tough. Heavy as concrete but tough nonetheless. They go through streets of NYC all year long and on top of that, amazing that not one was bent from the accident. Few unavoidable scuffles and scratches, the wheels truly survived. How many people can say that about their aftermarket rims? Anyhow, I will have two of them retreated and tires balanced.

Good luck with the repair project, Ange. You should be able to save alot by doing the legwork and getting salvage parts.

Any idea what they'd charge you for collision insurance? I have it on both my cars along with $500k limits. The hassle it saves is amazing. I have about 4 points on my license and I pay somewhere around $3100/year for both cars/drivers but I am 34. Being old does have some advantages.

Thanks Greg- I acquired a pair of front side fenders last weekend for $140 thanks to Albertt and Sycefiro
Now my headache is getting those darn doors (front door driverside and both doors on the right side). We're talking about $500/piece for used doors...dang!

I only took the liability...which was $650/yr with $500 deductible. Collision+Liability would have cost $1450/yr premium with $500 deductible. AcK- shoulda, coulda...didn't

Guess we're on the same boat
He's alive and at home, but has been ending up in hospitals more often the past month than at any other time of his life. At 65, it's hard to convince me that his time is up.
