once again im coming to the .org for help. you may have to excuse me because I might be asking a stupid question so please try to bear with me. ANyway, I've been looking into y pipes lately and I noticed that sites say something like "Non-CA/NLEV models". What does that mean? Could someone explain what that means to me? I have a 98 I30t in case thats important. Thanks!

California models have extra pre-cats and emissions equipment, due to the stricter regulations in the state. So, unless you purchased your vehicle in California, you will have a "Federal emissions" (non California) model. Hope that helps.

Just curious if you had any troubles getting your car licensed. Is it hard to get a car licensed if you moved to CA from out of state? I've been toying with the idea of relocating to CA but don't like the idea of having to sell my max if it won't pass emissions (Fed Spec, Y-pipe).

Here in CLE, I've heard people say there are shops who do some **** to your car to pass emissions. You take the test, but then you need to go back to the shop to reverse what they did. I'm wondering if Cali has that and what the hell they do exactly... Even with Y, I'd be very surprised if I didn't pass fed spec...Just recently took the test with the stock Y and my numbers came out WAY below the requirements. Cali spec is another matter and I would imagine my older max might just flunk.

There are 'Cali spec' Maximas sold in plasces other than CA. Check the white sticker attached to the hood of your car. I believe that Synki's car is 'Cali spec' and he liveds in NJ.

"This vehicle conforms to US EPA and the state of California regulations..."
Im guessing thats a bad thing.
