dyno appt is thursday at three pm PST now...

we couldn't get appointments today due to SEMA prep. (which is next week.)

so the best time slot we got was thursday.

i even came home from class early just to find out it wasn't going to be today. :P

Keep us posted Chebosto. I'm very interested in seeing the dyno results.

One question: Even if you don't get 25 orders for the ECU right now, will UPRD still make the ECU available to the public?

So until Thursday...tells us all the details and what your
impressions are based on driving around all week-end..
Is 1st and 2nd stronger ???? Is it only at 3800rpm in 3rd
gear that you notice it pulling like a bear...What about
driveability...hesitation....knocking.....anything negative
to report ?????

Give us more details on the powerband in each gear (seat of
the pants)

OK Tim.. here goes.

the program code we selected keeps the 0-3000 RPM power range normal like stock. Why? because if you were in a drag race or just wanted to have some stop light fun and you stomped on it, any more horses or torque would already be too much and all you would have is wheel spin. the maxima already has alot of LOW-END power, so that's why we're aiming for mid-high end.

Through first gear all the way to 6600 RPM (or until i hit rev limiter) you cal already feel the pick up , at now the infamous 3800. Really tho, you can tell the difference from the stock like-feel until the revs are about 4000.
when you shift to second, it's like wow. there's still more to go.
Normally in a stock ecued car (well in my case), if you were accelerating from a stop and shifted to second and was around 2700 rpm and tried to stomp on it, the car would take some time to pull, now it easily gets up to power.
3rd gear is heaven. David B, if you're listening, this is the way you're gonna get 14.5s.
****! well as you know if you shift from redline in 2nd gear you're gonna be pretty high up in the rpm band as soon as your shift to 3rd, and that's where the money is. even in the auto, the car pulls fairly nicely. the rpms shoot up from 3k ->4K nicely and then flies all the way upto redline (though i did feel a loss of power after 5900 due to my CAI, if you have a stillen intake the pull will still decline, but not as much as with a CAI.
4th gear and 5 gear is definately improved..
example: freeway in 5th gear going 85mph. that relates to roughly 3400-3600 RPMS, then if you wanted to punch it, the car actually moves! (even with people in side!)
case : when driving Nabil's car up to buttonwillow race way on the first long distance test, he punched it at 90 mph. the effect of the car accelerating made me feel as if it was in 3rd gear! (really.)
that was enough to get me sold on it.
you all are prolly anxiously waiting the dyno numbers, mee too. so until then, you'll have to trust me on the effects. you can really tell it's working when you're tryin' to get on to the freeway and the acceleration is just magnificent.

the code is a bit on the conservative side. from the two cars (between me and nabil) there have been NO PINGING OR KNOCKING. so that's a good sign.
the only negative i've got is that in 97s, the 0707 (rear o2 sensor MIL) might come on, we're trying to assess the problem and come up with a solution.. WE know that there's nothing wrong with the o2 sensor, because when i plugged in my stock 97 ECU, the MIL disappears.

here's where i feel it the most
1st 3000->6600
2nd 2900->5500
3rd 3400->5700
4th 3800->5600
5th 3900->5400

if anyone is in the so cal area and would like to see it run in their car (96 or 97) email me. i'll be happy to plug it in to your car for a quick test.
