will a deep dish rim prevent the upgrade of stock brakes to a big brake kit?

It shouldn't as long as the inner diameter is adequate to allow the upgraded brake kit.

Not only the inner diameter but the distance between the outside edge of the caliper and inside edge of the wheel.

that's what I mean ... won't the deep lip reduce the distance b/w the caliper & the inside edge of the wheel?

deep dish on a FWD? You don't see those too often

To answer your question - yes, it's likely that a deep dish setup will not work with a big brake upgrade because the spokes will not allow for enough clearance over the caliper unless you go with longer will studs and add spacers.

Yes...you might able to get away with 1" lip
But if you looking at something with 2" or 3" lip, it won't fit.

I wouldn't consider 1" 'deep dish'

5+ inches is what the deep dish wheels have.
