Hey guys,

help me out here. I've recently replace my Pirelli SS 7000s with Kumho ECTSA 712s. I hated the way the Pirellis got loud after a while. Other than that, they were cool. Now my Kumhos are startng to hum. Same as my Pirellis used to, only its at a different frequency, and I know that its because of a differenct tread pattern. Could it be my alignment that's making my tires wear that way?? When I check the front tires, the inside of each tire wears faster than the outside. My rears don't seem to wear at all. I rotate them every other oil change, but maybe I need to update the frequency?? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

That is an alignment problem for sure. Get it fixed ASAFP before you waste any more tires...

Thx for the confrimation. Since I have a set of H&Rs and Tokicos I've been waiting to put on DIY, I'll just have my mechanic do the whole job and take care of the alignment now.

Actaully, you are suppose to do an alignment every time you get new tires.

is really overkill. I've got 55,000 on the original RS-A and they are worn evenly, with life left in 'em. I rotated them about 4 times in their lives. People have knocked RS-A but they are orig. equip on Benz and Audi, and since they wore nicely I have nothing against them.

I would say that you have something crooked in the suspention. Realise that this can be a tie rod, to a strut, to a top plate...

Once you get your nose in there be prepared to do both sides and be prepared to do more than what is needed. (oh, the tie rod is about to go. Ok, do it. We should do both, OK, do both.)

Thx for the reponse guys . .

pmar-I think I'm going to update my rotate frequency to every oil change rather than every other.

bert- Just like you mentioned, the main reason I decided to have my mechanic do the job instead of DIY was because I realized I would have suspension stuff to deal with, and I didn't want to deal with that As for worn suspension parts, when they do wear, do they wear evenly?? I mean, my front tires are wearing in exactly a mirror image of each other. The left tire is wearing more on the right side than the left, and the right tire is doing vice versa, more wear on the left side than the right. It's as if my car is sitting bow-legged on its front wheels.

redmax- you sound like a guy who's real familiar with those Pirelli's I don't miss the noise from them, or the fact that they squeal at their limits, but you know what?? In the dry they seem to have better grip and road feel than my new Kumhos. Then again, that may be due to new tires on a tired suspension. We'll see when I get those H&Rs on.
