That's Why you Lease

I had a Jeep until a year ago, 98' grand cherokee...

I used to always drop to 2nd gear while going 75+, which would put the car well over the redline, but it was fun for passing

at least it was on a 3 year lease, so i never had to deal with the consequences . bruahhaha

Shifting from 5th to 2nd at 100+: $3k+
Learning from your mistakes: Priceless

I did the 5-2 shift ONCE. Luckily I was on a highway off ramp so I had already slowed down to around 60. The RPMs still went to 6600 and the car lurched like a SOB.

You've honestly got to be drunk, high, or paralyzed to not realize that you're in the wrong gear. I learned to drive stick on my Max, and I once downshifted from 5th to 2nd and as I began to let out the clutch the rpms ran up pretty quickly and instinctively I put the clutch back in and found the proper gear. You've got to be absolutely crazy to continue to let out the clutch after the rpms shoot up like that. I admit I was nervous as hell for the next few seconds after my incident. I then pulled over and listened carefully to my car. And after babying it home there were never any ill effects after. So to all manual owners just keep your head screwed on, the worst thing you can do in a situation like this is panic.

Although when you are racing somebody, the shifting and clutch movement is so fast that you probably don't realize what you've done until you done it. There's no reason to ease the clutch out when you are shifting from 5th to 4th...

If I was high and shifted from 5th to 2nd, it wouldn't matter because I was probably only going 25 mph in 5th anyways...

By the way, that link is from what appears to be a valid business website, but I still can't help but think that its bull****. It looks like someone stuffed tin foil in the cylinders. Are there really that many parts on an engine that have the capability of melting and leaking into the cylinders to fill as much of the cylinders as those pictures show?

That's why you never buy a leased vehicle. Hmmm...your confession makes me wonder why you got such a good deal on your Max.

There isn't much added to the cylinters - just the valve heads snapped off and pounded into the tops of the pistons - some of which are at top dead center - or nearly so.
There are, however - two different engines shown - must some brutal drivers there.

This guy wasn't outrunning diddly squat if he did this. 100mph in 1st gear(if he could even get into 1st gear) is about bazillion rpms. On a mustang, that's certain and instantaneous DEATH for the engine and probably the tranny.
