How are you guys doin? I just found this place, and it looks pretty cool. I have an 00' Maxima Se and a Pontiac Formula, and I am a former owner of an 87 Maxima Se as well. I loved my 87 so much that I bought a new one, same color too.

My question is, I know the adveritsed HP rating is 220 but what is the wheel hp with an auto? I have a modded LS1 and plan on doing some minor mods to the SE. i am planning a CAI, plugs, wires, pulley, and exhaust but I would like somewhat of a baseline. I just moved up here to Wisconsin and dynos up here are an arm and a leg. I was living in South Fla when I bought the car but I am originally from NJ.

Any cheap(free) mods you guys can recommend to start off with before I start "hacking"???

It sounds like you're more of a performance mod kinda guy, but if you're in the market for cosmetic mods, then go with clear corners from custommaxima.com. Some have said that FSTB makes a world of difference, while others have said otherwise, but I guess it's the type of driving you do and the terrain that you travel. I don't have one though so no flaming guys. If you have the money for a kit, I would suggest that. It really makes a difference. I never thought that it would, but the car feels like it hugs the ground. Seriously. By the way, what part of South Florida did you live in?

I used to live in Coconut Creek before coming up here.

Yes, I am more into performance but I would really like to get a lowering kit, "Special Edition" ground effects, clear corners, and blue headlights, then move into modest power gains. Whatever is cheapest right now.

I go to school in Miami. Too bad you're not there anymore. However, I don't have my car at school. Also, by "special edition" do you mean the anniversary edition? Cause I have the Anniv Edition kit and I'll post pics as soon as my roll is done.

Yeah, you're looking at about 175-180 wheel HP with an Auto. Dont let anyone sell you plugs and wires though. OEM plugs have worked best for most so far and the engine doesnt have plug wires. But, the CAI and pulleys make a noticaeable difference. Best HP for the the buck is a new Y-pipe.

Cool thanks for the tip on the plugs. I will be looking for a CAI and pulley kit very soon then.

Yes, I did mean the Anniversary Edition ground effects.

I would have bought that if the salesman had told me about it! I never knew it existed until I picked up my plates almost a month later. I was so friggin ****ed!!! Those wheels and ground effects look bada$$! I even like the turndown tips, and shifter, although the extra"5" hp doesnt impress me too much.

I'm too damn scared to install the Y-pipe... with the emissions trouble I hear about, as well as the annoying dealer guy saying "noooooope, that's gonna void the warranty"
