How can I be an elder? Does it cost a lot? Where can I get it installed at? How much hp does it give me? Thanks in advance for the info.

Make sure that your thread title says only HELP, EMERGENCY or NEED INFO QUICK and then when someone opens it up, make sure it has to do with a stupid cosmetic mod question.

Bill, with all do respect, we have seen how Shing feels about people not following the rules but he could be more professional about it.

I agree with your professional statements but being that you guys have the power to kick people out anyway, why say things in a way to get some people going? Just post what YOU posted and if someone gets out of line pull them aside and remind them of whats going to happen if their garbage doesn't cease. If they don't cease disable them without an argument.

To say "If you don't like it leave" is straight to the point but should ALL members(moderators also) show professionalism and respect when trying to get a point across?

I have my fire hat on.

For those capable of actually reading the thread, I clearly state that in there. Our job is to RECOMMEND, NOT and I repeat NOT to 'kick' someone off.

I wish people would read instead of halfa$$ read and come to their own conclusions. This is ridiculous (and I'm not talking about medicsonic as it appears he understood the rules).

deezo,

1) Shing is professional. I've dealt with him enough to know. That's fine if you don't agree. I could site examples from your own posts to this effect, but I won't because you actually contribute here. The point is we all screw up from time to time, and the rules are guidelines that can be held up as our standards for posting. We don't plan on getting nasty until violations are repeated by the same member.

2) How he deals with things and how I deal with things and how Jamie deals with things are all different.

3) We've all tried the "being nice" routine, and it doesn't work. This is the next step. As stated, if enough people have problems with it, take it to Jamie or create another website.

I am sorry if I missed something along the way of my readings but Shing has already posted this before and its not new. And you have had bugout-fests along with the usuals. I am not trying to make this personal but we all should take responsiblity for something. Yeah, I like to bug out with the others which I don't think is wrong but I do post my OT in the OT and I answer questions when people need help.

Oh believe me when I say that I have thought about it.

From time to time people have gotten on my nerves and I have let my anger get the best of me but I have chnaged my outlook on letting that stuff get to me. So you will see me post a smilie if someone gets out of line with me. Like I have said in the past, I also would like to be looked at as an asset to this site and I will try my best to be an example member when giving information.

Yes, but I prefer not to answer this question for every single member here. I guess I'll need to update the sticky with what constitutes elders.

2) what brought this on?

Many things:

- Growing membership (looks like around 2000 this summer alone; that's a 50% increase in a VERY short amount of time)
- Astounding amount of ignorance from mainly new members who insist on posting before reading or researching
- Newer members disrespecting or ignoring contributions of older members
- Too much complaining about what moderators should or should not do
- My procrastination in not doing this sooner.

3) maybe i shouldn't leave board un-attended for long periods because it messes up the maximonal balance?

Well, this has been brewing for a while in my brain. I just decided to actually do something about it. Especially after Chebosto posted some guidelines which received so much response. I think the boiling point just got reached.

You were missed though.

4) Bill.. how the hell are ya ?

Bill, I'm not going to start a flame war with you, but I DO like seeing people's sigs, so your suggestion isn't an option. What IS an option on your part is that when you post, DESELECT show signature in the reply, it only takes .5 seconds to do. It also speeds up the .org, especially if there is A LOT of text in your sig. Maybe a HUGE picture seen over and over again will prove my point.

Jeff, your car is ugly. Flame away.

In my eyes, you're trying. That's what matters.

but I DO like seeing people's sigs, so your suggestion isn't an option.

Then get over it.

What IS an option on your part is that when you post, DESELECT show signature in the reply, it only takes .5 seconds to do.

I like the ego trip of seeing my sig and I don't like taking the extra .5 seconds to un-check the box so your suggestion isn't an option either. It goes both ways. I am not here for your convenience.

It also speeds up the .org, especially if there is A LOT of text in your sig.

Right now, it doesn't really matter as it's slow most of the time anyway.

Maybe a HUGE picture seen over and over again will prove my point.

You're welcome to try whatever you want.
