I just wanted everybody to know I PASSED NJ Inspection today!!! I was really worried because of my mods......

These are the mods that passed:
PR CAI
Cattman SS Y-pipe
Random High flow Cat
JWT ECU
Oh yeah, and my Maxima.org stickers too

I hope this will bring some relief to those who are worried

Congrats Joey! Where have ya been hiding man? Havent talked to ya in a bit.

Anyways, with your mods there isnt anything you shoudl worry about. People worry about the y-pipe but that is only for pre-warmups on the car. Drive the car around for 10 mins and your fine.

The only thing that worried me was them checkin the suspension. You know...by bouncing it up and down. Oh well.... i just had my ar illegally passed.

Sinclair- I know I've been a hermit lately. I'm trying to work as much as I can before school starts up again.
Did you get your NOS permit yet? I want to head down to English town really soon!!! Let me know

Nick- If you live in NJ you are not going to pass inspection with a tint percent of 20%. I suggest you go to a private mechanic who does inspections AND hope that he passes your car. Good Luck.

I was thinking about going to a private mechanic. I want to be SURE that I pass though. I guess I'll ask around.

Thanks,
-Nick

Joe-I was down @ E-Town about 2 weeks ago...maybe not even. Ill let ya know next time i go. Well.. since school is starting back up... at least you'll be like donw the street again. hehe. Have you talked to Rob at all since you left?

You can try to pass with the tint. They normally check windows but some of my friends have gotten away with them rolled down and they just didnt check. Your best bet is to do a private inspection and leave your windows down. They really dont check for things like that. They only really do emissions and lights. The only prob is you have to pay the extra $$$. Private inspection around me ranges from $70-$90.

yup, it would be cheaper to go to a mechanic, then to get the front retinted. im pretty sure private places will not care. just put down your front windows......

90% of private inspection stations will care. It's not like before, inspection is not a serious thing with mechanics because most of them paid in excess of $30,000 for the equipment and liscense necessary to perform inspection and they don't give half a shiet if you fail, they are not losing their inspection liscense.

ok sorry about that, i didnt know. from what i have been hearing so many places just check a couple of minor things and pass you. didnt know they would fail you for light tint in the front. nm then nick. scratch your tint off and go pass inspection.

Ok...Here's what I think I'm going to do.

I'm gonna wait for a very sunny day when my car is due for inspection, and I'm gonna attempt to pass with the front windows rolled down. I'll keep the sunroof open to let more light in to make the tint seem lighter. If I fail, I'll just take the tint off the two front windows and enjoy my Maxima.

I found this pic of a Maxima with tint only on the back, but I think there is a very light tint on the two front windows:

It is BrianV's Maxima, and this is what my car would look like without tint on the front.

If I miss it too much, I may consider having it put back on the two front windows, or having a lighter shade put on. The tint on my car is pretty new, so this should be ok if that's what I decide to do. Oh well. NJ and their stupid laws.
