I bought a 97 Max SE about 6 months ago from a man in Houston. Upon purchasing the car from this individual I asked if the car had been wrecked or damaed in any way. Wel he said the door had been dented and he had it fixed. Well being the lazy a$$ that I am i just went to have the title changed to my name and noticed it said RECONDITIONED TITLE-DAMAGE UNKNOWN. I looked it up on CarFax.com and the car was issued a junk title in 2000 and also the reconditioned title in 2000. I am about to take action on this but do any f you guys know what my stand point on this is?(legaly)

For any salvage or junk titles, the seller has to let you know about it. I have bought and sold a few salvage vehicles, and I make them sign a paper that says they understand that they are buying a salvage car. So by law he has to tell you.

So what does this mean? From my under standings i can ask him to buy the car back or pay the diference in what i paid and what it is really worth. If e refuses to do so i can take him to court where he can have to pay up to three times the value of the car. That is what I was told. Somthing to to with a Texas Fair Dealing law or somthing like that. What do you think?

I don't know what the laws are where you bought it or what actions you can take... I don't know what I would do. But I think that what I paid for it would seriously affect my decision... If I paid like it it was a clean title car, I would be ****ed.

I paid 12,000 for the car and it had 65K miles on it. I feel like that is ful price. I have already got the ball rolling on legal action. Any tips would be great. Thanks.
