I have the GC's coilovers w/ Tokicos and there is no suspension trvale what so ever. I have a 2.25" drop. And its just plain bouncy...wtf.

Any ideas? Does Tokico make short bodys? Maybe Koni or KYB? Maybe Tein?

Are they bouncy because of the stiff spring rate and not enough shock damping or do you mean bouncy as in you are riding on your bumpstops almost. When I first installed mine I was like DAMN this sucks. Then I took a look and noticed that even with my bumpstop cut in half, I had a QUARTER INCH of travel in the front between the shock body and the bumpstop. I was down about 2.75 in the front (too low). I raised it about .75 inch and cut the bumpstop in half again, so its now 1/4 the original thickness. Now I have about an inch and a half of travel in front, and only VERY rarely do I hit the bumpstop. The rear travel is fine, like 2-2.5 inches. What spring rates did you get?

To answer you question, I doubt anyone makes shortened struts for the Maxima, the market for them just isn't big enough. We only have like 4 strut options anyhow right? Toks, Konis, GR-2s, and soon AGXs. Oh yeah and OEMs <gag>.

I asked the same question b4 long ago and actually found a company that does it. Mind you these are not off the shelf products. In a past issue of Sport Compact Car, Project 200sx SE-R has the same problem the maxima has, extreme lack of suspension travel. Well the guys at Motivational Engineering relized this problem and proposed a solution. They modify a stock or i believe aftermarket struts to allow for more suspension travel. They have a website, www.Motivational.net. I personally had e-mail correspondance with the owner and found him extremely friendly and willing to help. This procedure does require a core exchange. The product was tested on Project 200sx SE-R and was found to be reliable and versatile. So good luck to you and visit the website. Hope this helps.

Just an update...

Within a few hours of e-mailing the kind people at Motivational Engineering, Mike Saiki, they e-mailed me back. Modified shortened struts can be made to accomodate regular lowering springs or he told me that a threaded body can be made with those with coilovers, like yourself Synki. They use a modified Monroe housing or can reuse a tokico body if you so provide one. I say e-mail those guys and they should be able to set something up for you. Good luck!
