This is for bike enthusiats:

Ok, how do you guys or gals carry your bikes on your Max. Do you use a hitch carrier( 1 1/4" or 2" ), a trunk carrier, or a roof rack? Looking for suggestions that have worked well. Thanks.

Check out posts by Gr8bone. He just posted pictures of his max with a trailer-hitch mounted bike rack.

I've a drawtite 1-1/4" receiver style which works for a bike rack as well as the ocasional towing of a small trailer. IMO this is the best type if you don't like your bike or rack to touch your car.

I've got a roof rack on mine and have had no problems with it. I've had one for about 4 years now.

Yakima

I had a Yakima roof rack on my Max. The wind deflector did leave a slight mark where dirt had built up.
I tranferred the rack to my wife's VW ****-Ant.
The majority of the roof rack, except for the legs, is universal and can be used on many cars but it was an initial investment of about $500. I am dealing with a rust on many parts however.

Thule roof rack

I have a Thule. Yakima's are nice as well ... if you want to carry more than bicycles they have a better selection of accessories for skis, snowboards, etc but the Yakima stuff is more prone to rust (I've found that people that say otherwise frequently remove the roof rack between outings).

I just use a soft padded roof rack for my surfboards and kayak. It's momments like these that I wish I had an Xterra, Frontier crew cab, or Jetta Trek.

I also have Yakima roof rack on my 2K1 Max. Works great. I have the wind deflector adjusted so it rests directly on the upper rubber molding on the winshield. Thule is also very good.
