And I rolled up in my Maxima and parked it headout, and all the sales people stood up and one of them was like, "HELL YEAH!" to his buds. I got out and they all greeted me and complimented me on my car. They asked if they could help me, and I told them I'm just stopping by to check out the 2002 Maxima. The showed me one of the 5 ones they had.
The Car:
The deep blue was nice, the interior was nice, I like the new BOSE headunit. The taillights aren't doing it for me, but neither were the 2000+ taillights (non-se or se). Anyways the hefty window sticker of $29k+ without navigation was a bit painful to see, but I got around to talking about invoice and I think one can be had for considerably less. I'm real good at buying cars and pushing the dealer's buttons. I imagine I could get a 6speed SE loaded for 28k with the right homework. Anywyas, back to talking about the dealer, I told him at this point I'm not serious, but I want to check out the I35 and the 6 speed first. He said yeah I understand. I told him I'm a maxima enthusiast, but probably not going to buy one now because my car is paid off and I don't want to make any payments. Then the dealer said, "Wait you're going to sell your maxima to get a new one?" I said, "Maybe". Then he walked me outside and said, "Don't sell your maxima. Don't ever sell that car. That car looks so good, it's not worth it, and in all honesty the 6speed probably won't be all that much faster if at all faster." Haha he spent 5 minutes convincing me not to trade the car. This salesman was obviously one of a kind, but anyways I thought I'd fill you in. I was very impressed with the car and I like it much better than the 2000 and 2001, but that sticker is very hefty, but you are getting a lot for your money. However, you can get a TL Type-S with same options for the same amount, and it's probably hard for some to pick a maxima over a tl, but i would in a heart beat.

Oh I didn't test drive it. I told them I was only serious about test driving the 6 speed or a new altima. The salesman told me to come back in september to see if a 6 speed has arrived.

I guess prices vary from region to region, but 29k for a loaded (though not fully loaded) Maxima isn't a big shocker to me. I remember in '97 I looked at new SE fully loaded and it was 30k. Guess it's different in different places.

$29K!? WOW thats a hefty sticker all right! I was at the Dealer this saturday, and I happen to catch a 2k2 Speed through the dealer, so I followed it(running like a mad man) through the Service Garage(restricted area) to the back of the dealer, once I got out of the Garage I see the Maxima speed out of the dealer and take off. So I was Disappointed
, BUT!! when I was inside the Sales Department again, I here a really loud Burnout, so I said hmmm..? It must be another Z again being mistreated. So I walk out there and to my amazement, I see the same maxima dart to the Garage again, so I walk This time, and catch it inside the Garage the guys were looking at the engine. I run in there and the guys are staring at me like, WTF?? They then realize that I came to see the car. The engine bay on it was beautiful, it has a sweet sound at 5K, and the exhaust note is nice. The Interior is pretty big compared to the 95-99's and the shifter is sleeky smooth, I didnt drive it sense I didnt want to leave them with no tires.
Oh yea, when I came in there the guy said that the BIG BURNOUT was in fact the max, and that when they went out the dealer, they hit 130mph(local street), in no time!!
Oh yea, the price tag was $25,___ for the fully loaded SE auto.

let me guess... you're still looking to get rid of your car? you won't be happy until you don't have it anymore and then you'll wish you still had it.
