I went to a local Nissan dealer here in KC and looked over a couple new 2002 Maxs they had sitting on the lot. I checked out a silver GXE and msrp was $25600!!! No sunroof, no climate control, no Bose, no leather = WOW!!! It did have a power seat though and the "255hp 3.0 liter V6" on the window sticker looked nice. The front Nissan emblem is about 3X the size of the 4th gens. The headlights are very nice, the tails aren't bad, and the gated shifter does look nice. They had a GLE on the lot without navigation and it was close to $29000. The wheels are VERY nice.

Is only the SE going to be offered with the manual? Damn, these cars are getting way to expensive.

Just give it a few months and they will sell for about invoice. As far as manuals go, the 6spd is standard on SE's and is not available on GXE's or GLE's. BTW in your post you said 3.0, as I am sure you know it is a 3.5. Just making sure .

i saw a truck with a bunch of 02 maximas on I95 today... i was pulling up and i saw the tails and i was flippin out... the tails look good they looked like the clear part had like a smoke look in it, i liked the front grill and bumper it looked good on a white max... one had the 16" 2k base SE 5 star rims in chrome they looked pretty good.. i agree with dave, the 7 spoke GLE rims looked real sharp, they looked like aftermarket rims. the headlights were also obviously nice... all in all it looked real good, cant wait to see them on the road and also to go out and test drive one

Nissan doesn't expect to sell many GXE's anymore. I think they expect something like 2% of total maximas to be GXE (correct me if I am wrong please) Why? A fully loaded Altima 3.5 will cost almost the same.....

better prices in canada

The SE with leather is going for $37k and change. That translate to about $25k US. The 2001 AE is selling at $34k and change.

I wonder if I could buy a max in Canada and save some money? It's only a few hours drive.. I wonder what the catch is? Does anyone know anything about that? BTW it's not happening any time soon .

Geezz...I can't believe I actually did write 3.0 for the motor Brain fart I guess

GuidoSST(Dave) drove a 2002 SE that same night and said the car felt immensely stronger than his stock 95 GLE. However, once he puts on the Y-pipe, B-pipe, and intake on his 95, he might be think twice about that statement

I had a chance to test drive the new 02 Maximas before they were even put on the lots for sale (only because I run the Maxima club here in Hawaii and a few of us got invited as a special preview)but the one I looked at was an SE model for right around $25,000. I'm surprised that the prices are more expensive where you live since I thought Hawaii would be more than anywhere else. Nice looking car though. Loved driving it.

They are making this little step so that the next step (Q45's little brother) to 35-40-45K looks a little less steep.

Up here the price is going up by 4-6K.
