I recently purchased a PR CAI upper pipe through Cheston to install upstream of my JWT Popcharger. Install was simple, save for some wrestling with the vacuum tubes, and the bolt on one of the crush rings interfering with the throttle cable

I can't say that I felt a power increase...maybe 1 or 2 hp, as the stock resonator looked rather, well, restrictive.

But oh, my! The sound! The intake growl is louder and much, much deeper (and far better!). I'd say it sounds half way between a Popcharger-only growl and a CAI growl.
Looks a heckuva lot cleaner than the resonator too ^_^

Anyways, I highly recommend this to anyone with a cone intake.

FYI The Y pipe and FSTB are in the mail, and I'll be ordering a pulley and Apex'i exhaust soon

I paid $70+ $5 shipping. It was brand new, and retail is like $80.

And no, sorry, no pics yet. I'll borrow a friends digicam and get some tho ^_^

Is the hi flow-cai upper part combo better then a full CAI? or is it cheaper, is that why?

I purchased a JWT pop charger because I was told to get that over the CAI which I had orginally planned to buy. Did I make a mistake or did I do the right thing and is adding the upper part of the CAI to the pop charger the right thing to do?

Oh well, I don't even pick up my Maxima until Monday morning at 9am and I have already ordered two mods (clear corners and intake) It's already begun...

we need someone to get a group deal on that upper section. I think everyone would be interested too.

Maybe 100 orders? lol

I agree, the sound is MUCH deeper and more solid. To me it sounds exactly like the CAI. With the HKS intake, you get a few extra pipes (technically for the 240SX) that allow you to bypass the upper resonator. Every little bit helps.

Dave, how did you make that heat shield to enclose your filter? It looks good.....I want to do something like that...

You certainly don't NEED it. But IMO it does help.
And no...the two combined really aren't any cheaper than the CAI. But I think that its a better intake than a full CAI anyways.

yeah...it's better sounding system then just a cone filter set-up. but my exhaust is too loud for me to enjoy the deeper growl of my intake...i can barely hear it on the top end....
