My Budget Y pipe is not 304 throughtout-->>

The pipes are non magnetic(304 test?) but the Y section is. Hmm I wonder what that means?? #;>)

Did they say the whole think would be 304, or was it assumed. I didn't really follow that whole thing.

Does the y-section look like a different material..ie non-stainless?

Yeah they make Y-pipe for about $200. But they are non-mandrel bent.


I would assume that if they stated they were making a Y-pipe out of a certain metal that the whole entire thing would be made of it.

it means that the pipes are 300 series stainless steel(non-magnetic, will not rust), and the y section is 400 series stainless steel(magnetic because of iron content, therefore will also have a light coat of oxidized iron over time, otherwise known as rust.

don't sweat it. it's still a stainless steel y-pipe.

I think Vmok did the same test on his 304 with negative (non-magenetic) results throughout.
