I wanted to drive the Alty and the Max back to back, but while they had 2 altimas on the lot, neither one was available for a demo, so I just drove the 2k2 Maxima SE (auto) fully loaded including Navigation. 3.2 miles on the ODO...I put an extra 22miles on it during my test drive. I thought it felt solid, nice car, stiff ride. Quite honestly though, and maybe it was just me not being familiar w/ the car, it didn't seem like it had that much get up and go while rolling. From a stop, it spun the tires and launched like mad, but I was having a hard time catching up to a BMW 330 on the highway that zipped ahead of me in the next lane. I was expecting it to GO(!!) and what it gave me was that acursed unwillingness to downshift when you mash the gas. I got frustrated at the thing so I just started to manually move the lever up and down through the gates. They were asking $32,700 for it. For me, the car was solid, but not worth $32k...Maybe $27. He's going to call me in a week when they get a demo V-6 Altima (they were asking $27,900 for the two they had there)...but after sitting in the parked Altima for a few minutes, I agree with the others that the plastic (and what's w/ the textured seats?) was looking a bit shiny and cheap. Maybe I'll look at a new TL or a used '97-98 540i just for kicks. It's about the same price range.
