Which guides your modding priorities?

Going faster, or looking better?

Not an option... but if I can do it all over again, I'd go for handling.

Between the two, I'd go for performance.

Faster, yea I know it's an auto VG, and handling.

Good looks don't mean anything if you can't back them up

I would have to agree with Kev on handling.

Speed is addicting, I can't say the same for style. So, I rather have "GO", then "SHOW". Moreover, if you go with "SHOW" around where I live, the roads aren't very forgiving to your car. So, drive carefully.

Well.....

when there aren't probs...I go for performance and I know my VG won't be a "Corvette killer" anytime soon or at all , but oh well! but I think during the school year I do mostly asthetic stuff like rims and maybe finish off the body kit...so I guess I'm in the middle.

I'm pretty much all about performance except for my front spoiler. I've got lightweight 16" wheels, no fancy and heavy stereo, and only the mods that seem to make a difference. Handling is a big priority for me, BUT there are quite a few trade offs, most importantly ride quality. With Koni fronts, strut tower braces front/back, RSB, and ST springs, the ride is fairly firm. The biggest problem is suspension travel (there isn't much after lowering). Coilovers would be very nice, but the lack of any suspension travel and added creaks and rattles isn't worth it to me. When I get my WRX wagon, I'll add true coilovers. The suspension travel on the Scoobys is 2X greater than the Max.

The only style I would go with would maybe be some rims and I would be stretching it if I went with a body kit. I would mostly like handling and some performance (exhaust, nice intake, etc.) Everyone is different though.

I like style mods. The Max is fast enough ... but I wouldn't mind the performance mods. I mean what good is having a stylin car if you don't have the HP to back it up!

well, considering that I have a 3rd Gen, all I can really do is speed. The looks just aren't there.

I'm with DaveB...perormance first.

I really care about handling, though. That's more in line with the way I drive. My ideal setup is some light 16s and 225 section width tires. Suspension wise, maybe some H&Rs with KYB GR-2s. I don't want an extra firm ride like the Eibachs. I'm pretty happy with my stock power, but I'd consider an intake or a y-pipe. I love my stock system too.

As for looks, my Max is in super black. Everything would be color coded, eityher to match or in gunmetal. The only real cosmetic add on might be a chin spoiler.

with MY car (auto--GLE) performance isnt really an option.... and all speed does is get me in trouble, so i took OFF my intake and every other performance mod i had.....

show or go?

i know its not popular but as of right now i would have to say im show no go. Being that my first car was an 89 accord my max was 3x faster i didn't need to go faster. Then after watching the board i see that it's almost impossable to drop into the 12's, i decided to put all my stereo equipment in and start making it look good. I have a few more things and then ill get some stuff here and there for speed but i know it's not gonna go fast enough to brag about so ill save up for a faster car.

Well I know most peeps say speed, but well, I dont think you can choose one over the other as all important. Has anyone had a SC, NOS, and a Y-Pipe, without rims or a bodykit? Me personally, I chose the 5spd for the performance so I wouldnt have to worry about that as much when I was fixing up my style. If I had an auto, I could guarantee my first mods after rims and tires would have been a VB mod Y-pipe and all that, but with my stick its all cosmetic and then performance, where do I stand?

id say both

you gotta have both... but one thing that isnt worth it is expensive car audio.. I've got probably close to 2g's in stereo.. yeah it sounds MAAAD good, and I got 2 setups.. 1 for race nights and 2 15's for rollin around... but TOTALLLY not worth it.. if I did audio over again, 1 10" solobaric L7 and be happy...

speed if I had to - and yes it constantly gets me introuble but ya gotta be able to woop up on all the boys

but body kit and bigger rims.. coming soon

speed is cheaper!

i like to look good and turn heads. if feels good when someone who isnt even in to cars stops and compliments you on your car, that definetly feels good. but when my max is strapped down to the dyno and a big fat 191.7 lbft tourqe flashes up on the screen that feels even better. walking down a mustang through all the gears at the stoplight nats is what i am all about. performance. but i must admit looking good comes in a close second.

I LOVE the way people look at me after a race. My exterior is almost stock. They think "huh, little punk in daddy's car wants to race, I'll show him..." then when they get whooped, they're like "what do you have done, your car is really fast". I love that. Im all performance. Looks will come later. What is the point of looking good if you cant go fast?

Up until now, it's all about show. Now that the show part is done for a little while, gonna work on go. Got some sponsors lined up, so we'll have to see what happens next year = )

Thats what I use to get the women. It does slow me down by about .3 in the 1/4 if I leave it in...which I did once to see the dif. On street races, it doesnt really affect it much. Some nights when I know Im going to go street racing I take it out. But you cant beat the faces I get. The RX7 I beat last week, his face was price less:<---kindof like it. Looked like a deer in headlights.

Kirk

Cant wait for the VB mod and the SC. The faces will be worn by firebirds and the like.

I chose style over speed...I'm a poor boy, and most of the speed mods are out of my price range, but it's easy to put a few bucks in and improve style quite a bit.

Peace
