Picked up my 2002 yesterday. I finally traded my 94 GXE. (- insert tears into eyes here -) Nissan has done me right! It's even quieter than my neighbors 2000 while cruising down the road at any speed. I have yet to put the hammer down completely but the times I have given it a little juice to hit highway speeds to merge have been most impressive. If you haven't been to your dealer for a test drive, do yourself the favor and get moving. If you don't have the $$$ to buy one right now, stay far away from the dealer. :-) It's the best dent I have ever put in my checkbook.

Do you think the price on 2K1s will drop considerably?

if all 2k2's are 255 hp, the price of 2k1's should go down.

Thanks gang.

You got it Nick. I looked at the 2K1s while I was at the dealership. The sales bubba was going to take 2Gs off the top before we even began to discuss a price any further. I had to think on it for a minute because it was going to be a nice deal in the end. But, fate stepped in as I was talking to the dealer. A truck with the new 2002s pulled into the lot and I was in love. I told him to pull the white one down, fill it up with gas and show me where to sign. :-) Time from first sighting to pulling off the lot = 2 hours. I'll throw up a few more shots and some info on how it runs after my breakin. I'm gonna baby it for the first 1000 miles, then change the oil and hit the back roads for some lateral Gs.

Nice car dude, I am really looking forward to getting my 2002 6spd when they are released . Did you pay MSRP or did you get a deal? Enjoy the ride..

MSRP is $25,449.00. Sticker on this one was $27,035.00. I picked it up for just about sticker. Of course, I got a few thousand for my 94 and I threw in $1000 cash for the down payment so the damage wasn't too bad. Here is a link to the sticker so you can check the standard load on the SEs. The only thing I didn't pick up that you can get on the SE is the premium sound system but heck, the one I have sounds great and I will throw in some stratigically placed speakers on my own anyway. I never get too excited about factory radios anyway. No sun roof. I did not want one. My 94 had one and I think I opened it 3 times in the 7 years I had it. I asked if I could get him (dealer) down anymore on the price and got a "no" before I finished the question. He could make me some crazy deals on the 01 but wasn't going to give it up for a model that has only been on the street for a week.

Here is a console shot. I'll get a better one tomorrow, but this should satisfy your urges for tonight.

I fell in love with the new 2002 max with it's improved engine and 6spd, I figured why not get rid of both my cars and get a spankin new maxima! I was planing on keeping my 95 max for a few more years and then buy a 2002 used, but when I saw that I can get a 02 with a 6spd for under 25K I am exited . Now I just have to sell both my cars, which I have been trying to do this last week.

Boaz, MSRP is Manufactuars Sugested Retail price{AKA list price}, invoice is the price dealers claim to get the car for, although they still make a hefty some of money at invoice, especialy if you special order the car.
Yeah... Did I say that wrong?

While I have some of your attention, I wanted to bounce a question off of you guys. What do you think about oil additives like Slick 50? Does it really help your engine that much when you change your oil regularly and use a premium oil? It seems to me that it would help those that change their oil every 10000 miles or so (shame on you). Thoughts?

I have never heard any good reviews on slick 50, most of that stuff is no good. Just put some amsoil in your car after a couple thousand miles.

I really like all the Maximas, but I'll never get another one. There's too many other fun cars out there that are 10X as fun and have a lot more potential.........like a WRX wagon I couldn't fathom the idea of spending 27K on a Maxima. Hell, I have yet to own a new car yet (12 years of driving) and I don't plan to anytime soon.

very expensive

to be the first on the block. The 1997 was a bit pricey, with 1995's used at the time going for over 20k if you can belive that. When the 1998's came out, Maxima prices went bezerk and 98's sold for less than 97's. mid 22's for every option SE, and those 2-year used dropped to 16.5. The dealers pulled the same c*** when the 2000's came out, I know because I had to put up with the bul****p to get the Swiss Army Watch promo. I'll always remember this comment, it was late 1999 and the sales mgr asked me, "Why do you want to drive such an old car when we can put you into this one (my Maxima was 18 months old) for 27k?" They wanted low 27's for a new 2000! Anyone who paid that lost OVER 10 grand to depreciation in 2 years. Fully-loaded 2000 SE 5-spd has a book of 16.9 today.
