I was not impressed to say the least. The door panels felt cheap compared to my max, the middle console arm rest was really cheap. There was alot more, that I just don't have the time to explain. But I will say that the 5th gen Maxima is superior to the new 2002 Altima in many ways, except space and power. I wouldn't take a Altima if it was given to me. I will drive one soon but thats it.

Just thought I let you know, Nissan screwed up again!

I knew what you were going to say before I even clicked on it. You also don't like the 2k2 Maximas over your 2k1.

You are absolutely right. Nissan screwed up! The 2k2 is superior in every way to the 2k1 altima....but nissan screwed up. Remember, not everyone is going to like everything. Car companies know this....its not a big deal. Another thing....the general concensus in the automotive world is that the 5th gen needs some big help on the outside. Everyone agress its a really good car......but most consider it lacking in the style dept. You have 3.5L VQ envy You know a 5sp Altima 3.5 is going to walk alway from you like a hooker from a John with no money!

Yea, but I have a proven engine, and a very reliable car that I know was put together very well in Japan. The Altima didn't appeal interior wise. Exterior it was very very nice. I opened the hood, man what a light hood!! lol I dropped it and catch it in mid air, can't do that on ours! :P I guess I grew to like the 5th gen so much that I can't see going back to less quality. I even think the Sentra SE I had was better made than the Altima.

www.altimas.net no one likes the interior, go read. They even think its cheap compared to there cars or the Maxima. So I am not alone here.

I gave my opinion and I stand by it. I won't own one, but I heard my bro might...who knows.

Funny thing is, the chassis of the new Altima is waaaay superior to any Max's (yeah, think Skyline!). Even funnier is that the next gen Max will be on a stretched version of the Altima chassis

THE HOOD IS NOT A FLAW. Nissan spent more $$$ making the hood and trunk lid Aluminum to save weight. Thats the whole point. Less weight equals...bye bye to the slower cars. Also is probably almost as proven as the vq30de. Its just bigger with cam timing.
