ls doesn't look that good imo.
gs, m3 or z06 vette.

btw, any reason not considering a BMW? if you want a maunal car, the E46 M3 is the top choice, 333hp with 6sp, 13.2 stock. can't beat that

I know the LS is kind of a grand daddy car, but the new model looks so good! I think I will probally go with the GS, yes Im young 22 and want something sporty. I have thought about the M3 because of the specs, but I just dont like the interior on bmw's.

The IS is a nice car

I personally don't like it too much but it does look ok. I personally like the gs and the sc but my gf is going to get IS when 5 spd is produced. As far as speed goes it is overrated. I have personally raced 2 of them in my 95se 5spd and beaten both, one from a dead stop and the other from 65-about 90. It looks nice and has a very quiet engine. interior is great, I love the gauge arrangement and leather is cushy. It is altogether a really well put together car.

It's highly doubtful IMHO...

That Toyota would offer the Altezza here alongside the IS. Keep in mind it is basically the same car. There just aren't enough enthusiasts that would want such a high-strung 4cyl(the 210hp 6sp or the 200hp 5spd) for Toyota to justify selling it here. That's why they didn't offer that engine in the IS.

Toyota just released a new sport trim level for the Camry, so that will quell most desires for a 'sport sedan.' At least in Toyota's opinion, anyway.

dood, everything is overpriced to you, why is not overpriced??
keep in mind, those you mentioned, IS300, A4, are all RWD. TL and I30 are FWD, now ask yourself, what RWD sedan you can buy for 20's??

I've read numerous positive reviews; Lexus answer to the 3-Series. As has been mentioned that's missing, and is probably on the way, is a 5 speed tranny. The most sporty model at this time is a four-cylinder, that may be turbocharged-I forget. We aren't slated to see that version at this time either.

Well I like the way it looks, IS300 that is.

And by my experience with my brand new 2000 SE, let me just tell you that I never seen the car with the sticker close to 29K to have so many build quality problems.
Never mind the suspension problems that are there too.

I would rather have spended some more for IS300 and have a nicer car with better(much better) build quality.

And with 5-speed manual I think IS300 will be as fast as 2000 SE Maxima 5-speed.
The torque on IS300 is almost the same as on 2000 Maxima, only it is available sooner. THe HPs are lower on IS300, but I think it still be as fast as 2000 Maxima 5-speed.

IMO the IS will be a few thousands cheaper if Toyota badges it as a Toyota instead of a Lexus. The interior material looks cheap and the sound deadening is minimal. If it is not the engine and suspension, I wonder people will still buy it for the look. The IS larger cousin GS offers a much better ride and comfort. Of course, the GS costs $15k more.

With around $35k, I would rather spend it on the new 3.2CL type-S. Come on, why spend 35k to get a torture chamber?

Also, it is pretty pointless to compare the Maxima to the IS. They are just different cars with different market segments. I will at most compare the Maxima against the 3.2TL or the ES than comparing it against a BMW clone.

Shame on Nissan for not bringing more sporty models over to the U.S.

Now, I hope the rumor of the 300bhp Maxima is true.
