Well, go to a 2002 Maxima, measure the width and the length of the engine and then se if it would fit in your max. I will tell you now as many will doas well, this wil be a big pain in the *** to do because of the different sensors, lcation of various parts, etc. This should only be done if absolutely necessary and if you have the time, MONEY, and devotion to your Max. Good luck if you try it. This might be easier if you had a 2000-2001 Maxima since the engine compartment is the same size.

that's what i tried telling him but he won't listen. you would need the motor, the tranny, and ecu and a lot of time know-how and luck. look at all the problems mardigras max had swapping an almost IDENTICAL engine. nuff said. our car is not an engine swap car PERIOD.

And why would you wanna swap out your VQ motor ? It's the best V-6 you could get.

Why do people climb Mt. Everest?

Because it's there!

dual exhausts

Since I am considering the 02 Max, I had a thought, what about swapping the exhaust for the one in the Altima, since they share the same engine, does anyone know if the exaust is the same ? True duals on a max would look sweet, I am seriously looking at an 02 SE 6-spd in super black, once they become available and I can actually drive one. The 1st two mods I will do are swapping the 02 tails for the 01 tails and painting the 02 grill black to match the rest of the ext. Seem like the 02 altima exhaust would be a direct bolt on replacement but I don't know anyone have any ideas???????l

Maybe we should wait for the '03/'04 Max and get a 3.5L engine and dual exhausts, and maybe AWD, and maybe...

dont be stupid... new engine, tranny, ecu, whatever. just get a supercharger, or with the amount of money for an engine swap, boy, you can have a custom twin turbo and BLAH, the list could go on forever.

nope, the engine block is the same but the underbody of the car is different, they won't even come close to fitting, you'd have to get it done at a custom muffler shop if you wanted true duels.
