Question for fellow S/C owners.....

Hey,

As most of you know I'm sending my blower back to vortech to get rebuilt. Some questions: Which belt do I get for the 3.25 pulley? Will they put the pulley on for me or no? Anyone have instructions on how to get the old pulley off? Also, do you guys think that 3.25 pulley is safe on stock internals?

Please let me know ASAP...

Thanks,
Mike

You need a pulley puller and some hex bits to take the pulley off. Took Jane97SE and I about 3 hours to take off the SC, take off the pulley (took the longest), install new pulley, install SC.

Don't you have to take the pulley off before sending it to Vortech. I remember reading that somewhere.

I just used a C-Clamp, Breaker bar, Cro-Bar and a Allen wrench. Took about 15 minutes to swap the pulley.

Yep, 100% not a scratch on it. Unless Cheston did something to it.

Interesting method... Cheston has my smaller pulley now (not installed though).

It's the gheto method I have to use because I don't have any fancy tools. I did just buy a nice jack and a 196 peice Craftsman tool set . Time to go replace my starter now..

Eat lots of spinach before tackling those bolts..... better yet, use a HUGE breaker bar.

doug-

you think the 3.125 pulley isn't too much for my stock 75K internals?

I thought i'd stay safe with the 3.25 pulley....

They came out horrible, I ended up going A-Whole and smashed em into a million pieces. I tried two different kinds of paint{including van's} and the lights came out peach red in color. Ohh well, it was fun taking apart my tails anyways .

Screaminfast, I whould not put anything smaller then 3.25 on stock internals. I personaly did not want to go any lower then 3.48. BTW a 3.125 may work but I whould not know though..

do you think i'll need more fuel upgrades for the 3.25 pulley?

Should i get the adjustable FMU, or different plates?

Thanks,
Mike

I have a V1 kit with a 3.25, I used a 690mm belt. I think V2s are different.
