Make your own LED 194 bulbs

Radio shack has 12V LEDs! No need to add on resisters. I solderd (sp?) 4 together in the shape of a square.

First I bent the (+) leads to one side and the (-) leads to the other. Then I soldered them together. Then I bent them to match the size of a 194 bulb and trimmed the leads. Done!

I first tried with one led but it was very dim. 4 puts out a good amount of light but is still not as bright as a bulb. The best part is that the light is not pink, its a deep red. Sorry no pics in the car, I only have a PC cam.

The LEDS cost me $1 each at radio shack. Radio shack will also mail them to you if you order online.

Good luck!

Is four the maximum you can solder together?

LED info

the 194 are in your doors and side markers. I use them in my doors and they have been there for 2 months with no problems.

The LEDs draw much less current (Amps) than the bulbs so you can put more than 4.

Next I'm looking for for an extra dome light to put a pattern of leds insted of a bulb. Maybe spell something with the leds.
