What's your greatest distance driven in 1 day?
Re: NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER....
I learned the hard way too.. I was on a business trip to Pittsburgh and I needed directions from the hotel to our Field Office.. Why did it take me a 1/2 an hr. to find the Damn office which turned out to be viewable( and with in 2 mins walking distance) from the parking lot of the hotel.. I remember askin' my partner "hey isn't that our hotel?" (he was the one the used Mapquest). The Field Office laughed at us in amazement...
Long time ago- 670 in 10 hours-2 stops
Had a GTO- went from near Rochester to Louisville and didn't really speed, just over speed limit and before speed limits cut. Also from NC to Rochester- no airconditioner with temps in high 90s- nearly fell down when I got there. Got a big one coming up around Thanksgiving- Maryland to Phoenix- looks like 30 some hours.
Houston to Columbus OH
Woke up at 5:30 and made it around 2:00
My friend only drove two of those hours, because I would rather walk than let him drive my car. His driving habits sucked. I was damn tired. Best scenic part of the trip is Northern Kentucky going into Cincinnati at night. Awesome drive at 80 mph.

My drive to maxus was just a hair over 900 miles.. I did it in 12 hours going down because my map program (not mapquest, btw) said the drive was all 4 lane divided highway.. turned out to be about 200 miles of 2 lane, back-country highway..
and of course, driving through Alabama on a friday night, you end up following 4000 rednecks with kegs and a recliner in the back of the truck, heading for the local hangout to watch the pigs cross..
on the drive back, I went trhough Nashville instead of Alabama.. did it in 10 hours, which included 1.5 hours of driving through one of the worst rainstorms I've been outside to encounter (50-60mph winds- couldn't see the car in front of me when it was 10 feet away)..
truckers didn't even slow down.. they could see the stripes on the road, so they just kept moving at 65.. I saw so many cars get knocked off the road by them, it was scary.
I finally got through it and back to my normal cruising speeds (90-110) and got home pretty quick..
the last 2 hours or so were VERY hard, as it was dark and I'd been up playing around all weekend at Maxus.. extremely tired.. luckily it was about 40 deg outside and I've got a damn loud stereo. crank up some NIN or Korn to 120dB, roll down the windows and turn the heater on high to keep hands from going numb! I got some strange looks when I passed rest stops, but I got home alive!

summer of 98
I was a Junior in college, and decided to skip out on a week of work last minute and go for a one week trip to the south. I wanted to go to Nashville, TN. I drove from NYC to Nashville. Left 7am and got there at 8pm...that was 13 hrs of driving and it is about 800+ miles there...and the funny thing then was that my Acura Legend was leaking radiator fluid and we couldn't use the A/C in the middle of August.
wow--taht was a summer...
