Am I Nuts?

Am I nuts guys? After 5 months of owning my '97 Maxima SE, I want to sell it.

Yesterday, a friend of a friend took me for a ride in his Maxima. It's a '99 Sterling Mist SE 5-speed. He's hooked it up nicely. It had a STILLEN Intake, STILLEN Y-pipe, GReddy Catback, 18" ADR GT Sport Rims, Eibach Springs, Tokiko Shocks, STILLEN FSTB, RSB, Tint, System, and that's about all I can think of off hand. Anyways, he took me around corners at 40 mph+ and it felt great!

Anyways, even though I wasn't driving, I was very impressed with the manual transmission in the Maxima. It made me realize how much I want one.

Do you think it'd be worth it for me to sell my car for a 5-speed '97-'98 SE? Better yet, do you think it'd be possible to find someone out there who would be willing to trade straight up, my Stock '97 Fully Loaded SE Auto for a '97 Fully Loaded SE 5-speed or '98 Not-So-Loaded SE 5-speed?

The negative is that I'm trying to find away to let my parents let me get yet another new (to me) car. Maybe if I wait until the end of this year/beginning of this year, I could get a sweet deal from a car dealer because they don't have too many sales going on then.

Hmmm...I'm gonna post in the Maxima For Sale Forum to see if there is anyone that is willing to trade straight up.

I honestly don't think anyone would trade a 5spd for an auto. It depends on the car i guess. Why not just do a 5spd swap for your auto. It might be cheaper than getting a whole different car. Just my thoughts, good luck with everything though.

Yes, I have seen the light!

Here's what I think I'm going to do:

Hold off on any mods for my car until December-January-Febuary, when car sales are really slow because of the holidays and stuff. I'll walk into a dealer and find the perfect Max and trade my car in.

Either that, or sell my car and buy another private owners one. That's too much of a hassle though...Gotta sell my car, then I have no car for a few days...blah blah blah.

All I know is, I need a 5-speed because I drove my car today and I was disappointed, and that's is sad because I have been a Maxima-a-holic since I first saw a 1997 SE. Maybe I should take some time to realize how lucky I am to be behind the wheel of my car now. Hmmmm...I'm still dreaming of that Sterling Mist 5-speed in my driveway!

I just found a beatuiful '97 SE on AutoTrader.

It's a white '97 SE with Black Leather and only 42K miles!

Hmmm...time to try to convince my parents!

Even you medic?

I will trade you my car straight out if you want. My car is really fast and in Super shape. 5+ grand worth of mods too. Check the for sale section if you want to learn more about. BTW I live in R.I. and the reason I will trade you is because I am selling my car anyways and it whould be easier to sell your car.

Does your friend by any chance have any pictures of his car with the 18" ADR GT sport rims on it? Reason why I ask is that I just purchased the same kind of rims for my 5th. gen Maxima and I'm not sure how they would look on my car since there on order right now. Thanks for your help.

Go for it.
For all-around performance, 5-speed is best.
But for daily-driving, I'd assume automagic is better.

I found someone who is willing to trade, but I doubt I'll go through with it for a few reasons.

1) I'm in Jersey, they're in Oklahoma.
2) The mileage on their car is about 15,000 more than mine.
3) Theirs is black...I really want silver.

I think My '98 Sterling Mist SE 5-speed is gonna have to wait until, at least, the beginning of next year (January). By then, I shouldn't have any problems dealing with my parents because the Maxima will be completely mine then and I'll be able to do whatever I want with it!

why is driving an auto better for daily driving. Do automatic drivers pick their noses alot and don't have time to shift ?
